Bracket orders - double margin required on CQG?

Connection: CQG FIX
Global Settings >> General Trade Settings >> Use Server-Side OCO and Bracket Orders is enabled.

Bracket order to buy 3 lots with OCO stop/limit. Click buy limit.

If the account does not have enough margin for 6 lots, the order is rejected.

When I used T4, it seems the OCOs were set as "child" orders which only went live when the "parent" order was filled. So buying 3, worst case position 3, then when the parent filled (position +3) sending 6 lots to sell (3 on stop 3 on limit OCO) would give worst case position -3.

On CQG FIX, it seems that when using a bracket, 3 separate orders are working, +3, -3, and -3, which gives a worst case position of -6 and therefore requires margin for 6 lots instead of 3.

I note that Sierra logs FIX sessions, is my explanation clear or do you wish to see logs?

Can this be adjusted so that I do not need to keep double the margin requirement in my account to be able to use bracket orders?

There is nothing we can do from the Sierra Chart side to help with this.

The other thing to try is to disable this setting:

Global Settings >> General Trade Settings >> Use Server-Side OCO and Bracket Orders.

In the case of CTS have a look at the new lower-cost order routing connection model here:

It might be something you may want to use.

Hi, I prefer to leave my orders server side so I would rather look for a proper fix.

I posted on the CQG Users Forum and received the following reply:

You will actually need to reach out to Sierra Charts for assistance as you are using their front end. If they find that anything needs to be corrected on CQG’s side, then they will raise the issue to us. If you have further questions, then please let us know.

If you are able to help with this issue I would be grateful as it is forcing me to trade at half size or totally alter my approach which I do not wish to do at this stage having got totally familiar with my customizations on the Sierra Charts platform.

Many thanks.

We are not sure how we can help with this and it would seem extremely doubtful CQG would make any change in regards to this anyway.

With CTS, the orders are managed on the server. This is explained here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/CTS_T4.php#SetupInstructionsForAdvancedLowCostConnectionModel

Although we have to check how the margin requirement works with CTS with the new connection model Sierra Chart uses.

Just for our own information we have asked CTS this question:

In the case where there is a long position of +1 lot, and 2 separate active sell orders each with a quantity of 1 for the very same futures market, what would be the the margin requirement for this?

It seems as though there should not be any additional margin requirement beyond what is required for the long position of +1 because the sell orders at most would create a position of short 1.

is margin requirement shown in Order and positions/Balance tab accurate even if not in real time (some seconds delay) with CQG routing?
