I have had recurring problems in trading with Interactive using Sierra Chart Trading DOM. I have taken losses when I flatten a emini oil trade on the dome and the order does not go to Interactive. As a matter of fact when I place the trade on trhe DOM it disappears in s3econds. When I try to exit the trade I get a log message that there is no trade to flatten. Interactive show that the is an traded position in effect and the only way I can flatten is by using Interactive Platform. This has happened several times in the past.
I will give up Interactive or Sierra to continue.

You owe it to your clients to warn them of this problem. Of coursed there is no problem using simulated trades, only live trades..

I had no problem using AMP with Sierra trading platform but Interactive is a disaster. hey blame Sierra for the problem and when confronted they tell me to call Sierra as it is not their problem.

Tell me how to send you a copy of the log showing that I cannot flatten a trade that does not exist even while Interactive shows a live trade open.

This kind of problem does occasionally occur with Interactive Brokers. It is fully documented here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/InteractiveBrokers.php#TradePositionLineQuantityDisappearingDisplayingZero

Sierra Chart is very good software so we recommend finding another broker for trading futures. We recommend a broker supporting CQG or CTS:

You owe it to your clients to warn them of this problem.
We do. In the section linked to above and also this section:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/InteractiveBrokers.php#TradingRelatedIssues

hey blame Sierra for the problem and when confronted they tell me to call Sierra as it is not their problem.
This kind of issue has been extensively examined by us for one particular user in cooperation with Interactive Brokers and it has been determined to be an Interactive Brokers issue and they have yet to still resolve it.

Tell me how to send you a copy of the log showing that I cannot flatten a trade that does not exist even while Interactive shows a live trade open.
The log is not going to help us. All the information we have on the subject is here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/InteractiveBrokers.php#TradePositionLineQuantityDisappearingDisplayingZero

We have done our best to solve this, but really it is at this point in time something that Interactive Brokers needs to solve. Really we recommend using a different broker.

Hello Sierra,

I was reading though this thread and I'm in the process of opening up an Interactive brokers account. Very concerned now!

I currently have Rithmic data though AMP powering my Sierra, No complaints once as I love trading through it, just awesome, I use the Sierra Chart trade mode to enter bracket orders with Child orders and pendings etc which I can customize for different order types!

Now, with my account with Interactive brokers, would it be wise not to trade through Sierra at all and execute trade though their TWS instead to avoid any future issues?

I'm thinking of how I can combine the two in harmony with what I have now?
I was planning on continuing using the Rithmic data with Sierra for Charts along with Bookmap for accurate order flow and perhaps using Sierra on my other computer at same time to chart the IB chart feed and their TWS.

Would this be wise to have sierra power both feeds to weed out or see the discrepancies, and just trade though TWS? Which I have no idea how fast the execution is compared to trading through Sierra.

Any input on possible setups and your expertise is always valued! Thanks very much!!

I've honestly never experienced this issue with button trader and I've used it for day trading with IB for more than a decade....I am quite concerned about learning this, quite concerned indeed.

IB is the only broker I have experienced that allows access to such a vast array of global markets. I'm sure I'm not the only trader that would prefer to keep using IB _and_ all the SC tools available...I actually (for the most part) like your DOM.

Go ahead and use Interactive Brokers with Sierra Chart for trading. More than likely you will not be affected by the problem.

You can also use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed with Interactive Brokers to have reliable data:

We recommend using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed when using Interactive Brokers.

Hopefully we answered all of your questions.

Sierra Chart also offers the same functionality as bookmap. Refer to:
