On the volume by price study, the point of control bar is colored based on its width and total volume. Is there a way to color the other bars based on width and total volume? An example would be all bars with a total volume between ten thousand and twenty thousand colored blue.

The only way to do something like this is to use the Numbers Bars Version 2 study.

Please refer to:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_NumbersBars.php

You will need to change the Comparison Thresholds:

Although with this study you can only get a Volume Profile for each individual bar in the chart. But you can change the timeframe of the chart bars to whatever you require.

thanks for the reply. in the based on section,i chose volume by price. under column 1 background type i chose volume profile-but the numbers bar v2
colors the main price graph and not the volume by price bars. is there a way i can color the volume by price bars?
What I am trying to do can be accomplished on a regular volume study by using color bar based on alert condition and using this alert =v>40000. When I use this alert for volume by price, it does not work.

I tried adding a moving average to a volume by price profile and could not do that either. Is it possible to add any study indicator to a volume by price profile?

It is not possible to accomplish what you want in the way that you are doing it, or color the Volume Profile bars differently than the study itself supports coloring them.

You cannot use the Numbers Bars study this way.

I was about to ask the same question as Jim.. Can this be treated as an enhancement request please?

Specifically, the ability to color the volume profile bar and/or the total contracts text a different color based on a hard number (x > 10000 for ES contracts as an example) or a % (10% of total contracts traded that session thus far)..

You can do coloring like this with the Numbers Bars study:
Numbers Bars

Although those volume profiles are per individual chart bar. However, you can set the bar time frame to what you require.
