Hi - This is wrt Global Data Feed India (NSEINDIA exchange)

Normally, the monthly option has following format i.e. BANKNIFTY-NS-OPT-201606-C-18000 means 6th month of 2016 with a usual last Thursday (in this case 30th June 2016) of the month as expiry! Irrespective of that date, the format has only only year and month details i.e. 201606

What will be the symbol format for weekly BankNifty options contract recently introduced by NSEINDIA which is ending on lets say 9th June 2016?

I have asked Global data feed to give me symbol format for weekly options contract for BANKNIFTY introduced by NSEINDIA.
They asked me to contact you. Kindly help.

Actually, as we are reviewing this more carefully now, we see that you do understand the options format but you want to know how to set the expiration date for the weekly options.

Obviously we do not know that and only Global Data Feeds would know the particular text string that needs to be used in the year and month field. We assume it is just going to be something like 20160609.

This is the reply which I have got from GFDL:

"Sir, Sierra Chart is charting platform & our data is compatible with them..symbol format for sierra chart is designed by them"
"we have also asked them for exact symbol format with example but we have not yet received answer from them"
"we have also asked them in reply that "It will be nice if you can give some examples please ?"

In short, I have been told that the symbol format will be provided by Sierra Chart team!

Btw - I tried using different combos with 20160609 as suffix, but none of them worked!

Please help!

Each of the parts of the complete symbol string between the hyphens (-), are just sent as is to the corresponding fields in the FIX message. Therefore, regarding what particular format to use for each of the parts depends upon what the requirements of the FIX server is. Global Data Feeds can be consulted for further information about this.

So you need to ask Global Data Feeds what is the text string for the Maturity Month Year field for a weekly option. We do not know. They really should know this.

Regarding
MCDOWELL-N-NS-FUT-201606 and BAJAJ-AUTO-NS-FUT-201606

After that use Send for Analysis again and let us know when that is done.
