In the same way that we have supported a new connection model for LMAX for Forex and CFD trading, we are going to be supporting the same kind of connection model for FXCM which will eliminate the account minimum account balance requirement which is currently the case for FIX.

The same advantages will exist which include server-side OCO and bracket orders, long-term fill history, and zero difficulty with connections which requires no user set up.

We require five users will want to test this. Just contact us here and let us know you want to test it and we will set up your Sierra Chart account to allow access to this service.

Only ask us if you plan to do a significant amount of testing by submitting orders. The purpose of this test is for testing trading. Not market data.

If your Sierra Chart account is not currently active, this is not a problem. We will activate it for you at no cost.

We have assigned your Sierra Chart account, an FXCM demo account.

Update to the latest prerelease of Sierra Chart which is 1387.

You can now set Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service to "FXCM Demo Trading-DTC".

Make sure Trade Simulation Mode is disabled in Sierra Chart.

I've connected Sierra Chart to FXCM. The connection seems to be working.

The first thing I saw is very slow order status update (2-3 seconds). I.e. If there is a limit buy order, the market crossed it and went far below, but Sierra showed that it was filled in after 2-3 seconds, though the fill price was correct (no slippage).

2) My limit order to scale in wasn't filled. See the screenshot.
http://snag.gy/vOUdf.jpg
Service order ID is 163

I will do much more testing in a few hours.

Also, if I move a limit sell order below the market price, it doesn't get filled. If I move it withing 1-2 pips from my entry price, I get
Order modification failed | FXCM Demo Trading - DTC order update (Order cancel/replace reject). Exchange ID: 194716633. Info: Order modification failed | Order Modification Reject. The filling of orders is from FXCM, so we do not have any control over that.

When there is an order fill, your instance of Sierra Chart will get a notification of it within milliseconds.

How FXCM is filling the orders is going to be similar to what is documented here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TradeSimulation.php#HowOrdersAreFilled

Also, if I move a limit sell order below the market price, it doesn't get filled. If I move it withing 1-2 pips from my entry price, I get

All of this is based upon how the FXCM system works and is expected based upon specifically what you are doing and how the FXCM system works. We have no control over this.

I would be interested in this as well. As i already have a live account with them but no longer there 10,000 minimum. Moved over to the futures, but would still like to have access to the cash market via sierra charts.

We will assign your Sierra Chart account an FXCM demo account on Monday.

Also regarding fills, the simple way to verify that fills are getting processed by our server and transmitted to your Sierra Chart as soon as they are received from FXCM, is simply to enter a market order.

You will then see the speed that the order fill is received by our server from FXCM and sent to your Sierra Chart instance. It all happens in a matter of milliseconds.

There simply is no delay on our side.

With our LMAX order routing connection all of this happens in less than a millisecond. It is down into the microsecond level.

The FXCM demo accounts that we are assigning to users can be used with the FXCM trading software as well. So you can enter orders from that software and monitor for fills and do comparisons regarding how quickly fills are received.

The Username and Password is the account number.

So if we give you the account number 1234 (example), the Username and Password to log into the FXCM trading software is also going to be 1234 for both of those.

A FXCM demo trading account has now been assigned to your Sierra Chart account.

Refer to this page and confirm the account number:
https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php

Update Sierra Chart to the current version following the instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/download.php#FastUpdate

Set "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service" to "FXCM Demo Trading - DTC".

Connect to the server with "File >> Connect to Data Feed".

Depending upon when you receive this message it may take up to two minutes for our server to receive the updated authorizations for you to be able to connect.

We have also added some additional usage time to your account for testing.

Market orders working with fast fill; stops as attached order works. I have noticed a couple of issues: when I check Balance under Trade>>Trade Orders and Positions, I see multiple accounts, not just my demo acct number. Also question about the spread: is that comparable to what we will see live? I am U.S. trader with FXCM, and see EURUSD spread typically 0.3 - 0.4 (plus commission). Demo seems to be closer to 1.0-1.5

After a couple of trades, Balance in Trade data window does not match FXCM Trade Station for same account. SC: 999,990.31 FXCM: 999,982.31

We will correct this. Thank you for pointing this out.

No, the live bid ask spread will be different. It should be tighter.

We will look into this. One thing we know is that the balance will only update when the trade is closed and then it just remains the same until there is another fill.

Balance never updated in Trade window, not even after more trades filled. Did not update after disconnect from server. Did not update after closing SC and re-opening.

There is no account balance Data displayed on the Trade Window.

Are you referring to the data on the Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >>Balance tab?

We will make sure that account balance updates are passed through to the clients.

We released a software update to solve the reported issues with the Account Balance data. However, we still see the problem with it not updating.

The remaining issue is on the FXCM side and we have to ask them about that.

Will be working on this today.

We have done another software update. FXCM account balances will now update automatically now when there is a change in Position quantity.

We also added additional account balance data fields.

1) I do see the balance changing with a trade now in v1389.
2) With an open position and 2 attached orders, what behavior should we expect from demo if internet connection is dropped? It looks like record of open position is lost and attached orders are cancelled.

Sierra Chart Engineering - Posts: 104368
1. Good.

2. The Position will remain and the Attached Orders are managed on our server with OCO functionality. So when one fills the other will be canceled. When one partially fills the other one will be partially reduced in quantity by the amount of the fill quantity of its sibling order. This is exactly how Sierra Chart manages these orders when not using server side bracket orders.

However, for the Attached Orders to be managed on our server as explained, it is necessary that you have enabled Global Settings >> General Trade Settings >> Use Server-Side OCO and Bracket Orders. This only is effective for new orders. Not existing ones.

It looks like record of open position is lost and attached orders are cancelled.
You should see neither the Open Trade Position go to 0 or the Attached Orders becoming canceled during the loss of connectivity unless you were to change the "Service" in Sierra Chart to another service.

Everything seems to work fine, order transmission is really fast (I now got used to FXCM). The balance window updates when the position quantity changes. Orders work fine, the position updates after reconnect. A couple of questions:

1) Do I understand correctly that the Account Value only updates when the position quantity changes and does not reflect the market price change when you have an open position?

2)Somehow Orders and Positions gets updated when I reconnect (I use 2 SC instances on different computers) and I see only the last open position there without previous history. I think SC loaded the order history from the server when the testing just started. Is it the expected behaviour?

Sierra Chart Engineering - Posts: 104368
1. Yes this is correct.

2. Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Positions should show all of the currently open Positions when connected to the server.

What history are you expecting to see? If you are looking for order fill history you will see that in the Trade >> Trade Activity Log:

Hello,

This is in response to post #24:

Your FXCM trading account has now been assigned to your Sierra Chart account.

It was previously assigned to another user and that information was in an email notification that you got. But this account has now been removed from that other user because they are not using it.

Refer to this page and confirm the account number is correct:
https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php

Update Sierra Chart to the current version following the instructions here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/download.php#FastUpdate

Set "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Service" to "FXCM Demo Trading - DTC".

Connect to the server with "File >> Connect to Data Feed".

Depending upon when you receive this message it may take up to two minutes for our server to receive the updated authorizations for you to be able to connect.
