Dear Sierra Chart Support,

First, I would like to express my disappointment with how unnecessarily difficult it is to request technical support. Sorry but I need to mention this. I do this so you know how your customer experience your service. I also would express my thanks and appreciation if appropriatie but this is also part of live. Hope you understand. Why?

I have been paying approximately $35 per month for Sierra Chart, year after year. I rarely contact your support services, partly because I find them so difficult to navigate and usually prefer to seek help elsewhere.

Now that I have an urgent technical question, I am confronted with an enormous amount of text explaining which questions Sierra Chart may or may not answer. I have to work my way through all these restrictions just to determine whether I am even allowed to ask my question. This is a lot of work. So I hope I will not disturb you with my question. At least I did my very best to read your rules.

Frankly, I find this a very discouraging experience for a long-standing paying customer. Whatever happened to this technical world?

My technical issue : Delayed closing of trading positions

I am experiencing a noticeable delay when manually closing futures positions in Sierra Chart. The screen responds slowly, and I cannot determine whether the delay occurs when the closing order is submitted, when it is executed, or when Sierra Chart updates the display.

I have already checked my computer's performance:

CPU usage: approximately 12%

Memory usage: approximately 60% of 16 GB

Disk activity: minimal

Chart Update Interval: changed from 400 ms to 200 ms, without sufficient improvement

My charts use several studies, including footprint charts, delta and MBOX.

My questions are:

How can I determine whether the delay is caused by Sierra Chart's screen updates, internal processing, or actual order transmission/execution?

Are there specific settings I should check to improve the responsiveness of manually closing positions?

Is there a more reliable or faster way to close positions, particularly when using charts with multiple studies?

This is a serious concern because I need to be able to close positions quickly and reliably during live futures trading.

I would appreciate a clear and practical response to these questions.

Kind regards,

Anita

To understand if you are seeing a delay in the interface or in the actual order transmission, you would need to look at the Date/Time of the order information in your Trade Activity Log. The date/time shown in there for the order fill is the actual date/time that it occurred on the exchange. So if that date/time is correct, for when you think you entered the order, then this would imply an issue with the software updating the display.

On the other hand, if the date/time is different, and matches what you see within the software, then this would mean that it is about order transmission times.

With regards to the system, we recommend going through the following for the best way to setup your system to ensure you have the trades being sent as quickly as possible:

For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service:
