Hi SC support, For some weird reason, My algo has not been able to open trades via market replays or via live forward testing since 2/25/26. Algo opens trades fine via Replays on NQH26 from 1/1/2025 until 2/24/26 and then does not open any trades from 2/25/26. Chart is able to load the data from 2/25 until today so data feed seems to be working fine. Market replay also works fine but algo just won't open any trades. I switch to NQM26 symbol and same issue with this symbol also. I am using a simple M1 chart during US session with Automatic rollover futures symbol = Yes and Continuous Contract = Volume Based Rollover. |

Hi John, Any idea what could be wrong here? I really want to start forward testing my algo soon. I can't be my account setting (funding?) as I have a live denali feed working just fine. |

Thanks for your help. I am able to manually enter trades in a sim account (during replay as well as via live feed). My Trade > trade service log shows just a blank window. I just dont get why my algo would not trigger trades via live feed in a sim account.

If your Trade Service Log is blank, then the first thing is to update to the current release. There were a few releases in which that window and the Message Log would be empty. Refer to the following for how to update: Software Download: Fast Update Then go to "Global Settings >> Message Categories" and set the items you want to see in your logs to "Yes". We recommend setting them all to "Yes" to start with, then you can remove items you do not want later. Once that is done, then try your trading system again and see if there is anything in the Trade Service Log as to why you may not be able to open a trade. But, in general, since this is a custom study you are working with, the issue is most likely going to be in the study, so you will have to determine what is occurring within your code that would be causing an issue. Thanks John. This cannot be related to algo or custom studies. Just created a brand new collection with delivered studies... very simple.. buy on session high, sell on session low. runs fine in replay until 2/24/26 and stops working from 2/25/26 onwards. I also tried with continuous contract and automatic rollover disabled...same issue. I really want to avoid fast update as I have backtests in numerous sim accounts to compare with forward testing results. I am currently on 2870 version. Same result on ESH26 also. It looks like something changed on 2/25. |

We do not see any issues with the studies on the current day (March 9, 2026). There is no reason for there to be any issue with the data. The one thing we want to point out, although we think this is on purpose, is that these studies will only work during the 30 minutes between 09:30 and 10:00. If you continue to have an issue, then we recommend breaking down the situation into parts, and using multiple copies of the "Spreadsheet Formula" to evaluate each piece as you step through the replay and see why you are not getting what you expect. Thanks John. The issue got resolved with a fast update to version 2888. I am still not seeing anything in the trade service log after running a full backtest.... just a blank window. I never ever had the need to look at this service log ever in the last 5+ yrs as SC has been ultra stable for me (with the occasional "what the heck did I do now?" hiccups :-) Could you please tell me if there is a setting to enable writing stuff to this log?

The Trade Service Log should never be completely blank. What version of the software are you running? You can find this in "Help >> About" in the line for "Version". Regarding trade service log, Unchecked the "Disable visible message log" and I am now able to see messages in trade service log. With that said, I noticed the trade execution via replay and forward SIM testing with realtime data stopped again on 3/16. New front contract on chart got rolled over to NQM26 instead of NQH26 (rollover based on volume only-no back adjustment). I noticed that today so exited SC platform and it started to work again. I think the issue is with the platform running for days and weeks contineously with no shutdown of SC platform or reboot of my laptop. SC has been extremely stable for me rarely to require a shutdown. Reboot is only every 4-6 weeks when there is a windows update alert. The only reason to restart Sierra Chart is the Operating System tends to get unstable over a long period of time. So we recommend rebooting your computer once a while just for this reason. We are not sure what you want us to look into. Now that you are able to view the information in the Trade Service Log, what is it showing when you are trying to do a replay and enter a trade after 3/16? Thanks John. I am good with this issue. It seems to be resolved. Now I have another weird thing happen this morning. Last night I ran a backtest, ended the replay before market open, went into live forward testing, created all the fills etc. fantastic. After a while, suddenly order fills disappeared from my chart. TAL shows all the fills across all symbols and Sim accounts. switching SIM account in trade ticket window would not work either. Upon googling, I noticed chart settings > Trading > Order Fills Start Date was set to "205-02-23" (invalid year) and order fill start time was some random -19:xx:xx (negative value). I did not even know about these fields so Question: what could have possibly edited these two fields? it wasn't me for sure. This is so random! Trade service log was disabled as I don't use it at all. I am unblocked now but just want to share my experience with this release v2888. |

The only thing we can think of that could possibly cause that would be a corrupted Chartbook. One of the things you should check is whether you have drive space free. If you are out of drive space, then this could lead to a chartbook not being saved correctly and becoming corrupted. Another possibility we can think of is that you are having a problem with your drive. Although having a bad block/sector on an SSD is not as common as it was with hard disk drives, it is still possible that this lead to a corrupted chartbook. If you are using a hard disk drive, then we recommend doing a low level test and making sure it is not starting to fail. In general we recommend using an SSD with Sierra Chart due to the amount of data written and read from the drive, so if you are using a hard drive, you may want to switch, if only for performance reasons.
