I have been using the Anchored VWAP tool and every time I add a new VWAP it reloads all the chart data. Is this normal behavior or is it something I'm doing in my charts that causes this to happen. It is quite annoying and very slow when you have some data to load. Thanks for any help

You probably have the Input for "Base on Underlying Data" set to "Yes" for that tool. In this case, the data does need to be reloaded in order for the study to have access to the required data. The option is to change the Study Collection for that configuration to have that Input set to "No", but this will then decrease the accuracy of the VWAP. So you will need to determine what works best for you. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Great thanks for the info. That was indeed the issue. But I have to say that it seems confusing that to get a more detailed VwAP line for a portion of the most recent day it needs to reload the entire months or years worth of data. Not just once but over and over for each new VWAP line. But at least I understand now.

This is normal. The entire chart does have to be reloaded but the reloading only occurs once.

Well yes once for every AVWAP line that I add. At least this is the behavior I see. If I'm going back in time looking at spots where it might be good to place AVWAP that is lots of reloading. But now I know to only use less accurate version when experimenting

Can you clarify where the Anchored VWAP tool is located? I didn't know this was a built-in SC tool. I've been using VbP and set it up to draw an Anchored VWAP that way, through a customized button on the Control Bar. In that Study's (VbP) dialog box, there is nothing about 'Base on Underlying Data'. So, this thread seems to be about an Anchored VWAP tool or feature I'm not aware of. BTW, using the Anchored VWAP as a tool using the VbP doesn't recalculate all the bar data each time. It just goes down quick and easy. But it's far from a robust Anchored VWAP tool. There are no Standard Deviation settings or other features found on other platforms. I think a lot of us would really like a full featured A-VWAP tool. |

VWAP is a study in SC. Anchored VWAP is a tool in the tools menu that places the VWAP study at the bar you select. You might have to be at the higher version of SC to have it? Not sure about that.
