Sierra Chart has its own NTP server now. The address and port number is: ntp_usmw.sierrachart.com:11497 This can be added through Global Settings >> NTP Settings. You can query it as often as 15 seconds. Make sure you are running the latest version of Sierra Chart to use this update interval. Do not use this update interval with any other public NTP server. For other servers, you should be at an interval no less than 60 seconds. Otherwise, you are going to get RATE limited through a KoD packet. It provides very accurate time. It is synchronized from a GPS based time server in the data center. We are still working on our NTP server, and we are working on adding a very accurate clock which NTP requests will be time stamped from. This clock maintains accuracy within 1.5 µs per 24 hours. And it will periodically update from the GPS signal. The following are the recommended settings in Global Settings >> NTP Settings: NTP Servers: ntp_usmw.sierrachart.com:11497 Individual Server Polling Interval (Seconds): 30 Number of Responses to Wait for to Update Time: 1 Minimum Number of Responses to Wait for to Update Time: 1 Time Delay After Last Received Response to Update Time if Insufficient Responses (Seconds): 5 The other settings are irrelevant and not implemented. You need to be on the latest prerelease for the above to work properly. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Not sure why this is getting held up.

We received the timecard (had to pay a tariff (tax) though! Another subject.) and have installed this high precision timecard in our NTP server now and it is operational and maintaining very accurate time. So the Sierra Chart NTP server is a highly accurate time source at this time. And you can query it as often as every five seconds. We want to apologize. It is come to our attention about two days ago that there has been an inaccuracy of about 180 ms with our NTP server. This is now resolved, and we are working on understanding, why this has happened. It does relate to, the highly accurate timecard in the server, not communicating with the server itself. Something to do with one of the network adapter ports on the card itself. We are not sure, where the fault is . The supplier of the timecard, faults the Intel driver but we are not so sure about that. This is quite an expensive piece of hardware and we really want it to work, but if in the end, it just continues to be ongoing trouble we may just abandon it. Our NTP server will still be accurate though. We would like it to have accuracy below 100 µs but if we cannot achieve that, it will still be accurate to within a millisecond. The timecard is capable of even more accuracy but because it does not have a direct GPS signal, it is less accurate. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. We want to update this thread, the use of that timecard was abandoned, at the start of 2026. We are no longer using it and we have contacted the manufacturer about it. We are seeking a refund for it. It really was a faulty and unreliable piece of hardware and software. We apologize for the problems that it caused. After we stopped use of it, everything is now stable. And also there was inaccuracy at times, of more than just milliseconds, but into seconds, maybe even a minute that occurred for one day, at the end of 2025. But this is now all resolved at the beginning of this year. The NTP client in Sierra Chart will not adjust a clock more than 30 seconds. So at most, there would have ever been in an inaccuracy of 30 seconds. We are simply using a Linux program called chrony now, which synchronizes to the data center NTP server which gets a signal from the GPS satellites. This has been completely stable and working very well all of this time since the start of the year. We will have more to say about this, regarding the specific hardware we purchased and what we were intending to purchase. Originally we were intending to get hardware from Meinberg. We had used their software in the past, and it looks like they have good hardware and we found out that one of ours service providers, who provides us various exchange feeds also uses Meinberg hardware for timekeeping. This original timecard that we got was from timebeat.app. We do not have a good impression of them at all. And we are quite unhappy.
