5s Delay in downloading intraday data after changing to new ticker without historical data

Hello Good Morning/Evening. Feed: SC NQTV Broker: IBKR I'm trying to understand about the 5 second delay between changing a ticker and data download starting. To make chart-flipping quick, I've configured to only download 5 day intraday data in 30s intervals only. While after starting, the download only takes 1-2 seconds, but starting the download takes 5 seconds every time i change ticker. This makes changing new tickers (for stock trading) a tid bit slower if the Historical data isn't present. If the data is present it's quite fast but since i use certain 3rd party scanners, i've to quickly flip charts and this 5 second delay is problematic. From the logs, the time it takes to download the missing data is 1 second in each case. You can see this from this from this statement in the logs: Historical Data | HD Request # 2269 | Completion time: 1s.
But, in general, there is going to be some time to download the data and load the chart. We can not say why you are seeing a 5 second delay specifically, but it does not sound like this is unusual for what is occurring. Our recommendation is to use the "Intraday File Update List" in order to have the data downloaded for all the stocks that you will be going through. There is going to be time for the system to get everything setup and downloaded. If you are seeing a 5 second delay, then this is going to be what it is in your case. The only way to improve this is to use the "Intraday File Update List". But even then, there will be some time to load a chart.

The delay is normal and relates to time to buffer real-time data which ensures there is no missing data. We will not going to background details but a delay of about 5 seconds is inserted. The way around this is to use the Global Settings >> Intraday File Update List. For someone trading futures with limited tickers changing this 5s delay time isn't required and would not benefit them. But for someone trading stocks and flipping through multiple charts this would be quite handy. Is it possible to add a feature in upcoming releases where this can be configured manually? |
