We received this email from Cogent, and they say this is due to Zayo maintenance at the CME Aurora data center. We also have a Zayo connection to Aurora as well. So we are assuming, that we would have an interruption with our Cogent services and Zayo services. This would mean, complete loss of connectivity for CME market data and order routing. We hope this is not going to be the case and we do not know for sure but we are informing users to be prepared for this. We will be contacting Zayo about this, to make sure our services are not interrupted. It is not a problem if the Cogent circuit is interrupted. That would not impact order routing, but would briefly affect some market data connections for about one minute until there is a transition to the Zayo circuit. We do have a new connection from Lumen on order but it is not yet installed. CIRCUIT PROVIDER MAINTENANCE Dear Cogent Customer, As a valued customer, Cogent is committed to keeping you informed about any changes in the status of your service with us. This email is to alert you regarding a circuit provider maintenance which will affect your connection to Cogent: Start time: 05/27/25 at 00:01 - America/Dallas (05:01 UTC) End time: 05/27/25 at 05:00 - America/Dallas (10:00 UTC) Expected Outage/Downtime: 5 hours You Cogent services received at: 2905 DIEHL ROAD 29882-0 AURORA, IL 60502 US will be affected by this outage. This outage has been scheduled by Zayo. The purpose of this maintenance is Fiber Maintenance - Cable splicing. Only the Cogent Order ID(s) above will be impacted. During this maintenance window, you will experience an interruption in service while Zayo completes the maintenance activities; the interruption is expected to last 5 hours; however, due to the complexity of the work, your downtime may be longer. So as you can see it is another one of these high risk crazy cable maintenance operations being done early in the morning hoping everything is going to be okay, before the market open. They never work on weekends! Why the hell does not anyone work on weekends. This work could so easily be done Friday evening. Or Saturday evening. It never does. Something is very wrong here. We just contacted Zayo now, and they inform us that for our Zayo circuit there is no maintenance planned for the morning of May 27, 2025. So this means there will be no interruption with order routing. If the Cogent circuit is affected, it would only of interrupt some market data connections for about a minute and then they will switch over to our Zayo circuit. So the impact would only be one minute. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Regarding this, there was an interruption, but it was completely opposite of what we were told. From what we can tell from logging and monitoring, the Cogent connection that we have did not have any interruption but the Zayo connection we have, a newer one, was interrupted. Completely opposite of what we were told. Cogent said there would be downtime. Zayo said their own circuit was not going to be affected. The Cogent connection was not affected and the Zayo circuit went down during part of the specified time range. Order routing was not impacted. This simply confirms, what we have been told, that these carriers lie and they cannot be trusted. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
