In a diagonal difference comparison, there are two calculations being done at each price level. The Bid at the price is compared to the Ask at the price above, and the Ask at the price is compared to the Bid at the price below. In order for the Bid to be dominant, the Bid at the price must be greater than the Ask at the next price. For the Ask to be dominant, the Ask at the price must be greater than the Bid at the lower price. If neither of these situations exist, then neither side is dominant.
