1) Part of the problem you are having is that when you switch services you need to ensure that you update your charts to the correct symbol. Typically when you select "OK" on the Data/Trade Service Settings window it asks if you want to update your symbols, you should say "Yes", unless you know you are just doing something temporarily. If you forget to make the change, you can always select Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service, which will update all the charts in your open Chartbooks to the symbols for the current selected service.

Assuming you have the correct symbols at the correct time, you can get data from CQG (if you are setup for it) or from us, but you will find that we have more historical data available. But if you are just looking at the current day or two, you probably will not see a difference.

2) The Service Package renews every 31 days and starts from whenever you first signed up (this includes the Denali Data Feed Fee, which is part of the package pricing). The exchanges renew on the first day of each month.
