Hello, Sierra Chart Support...since I'm stuck, I'm turning to you...- I got a new chartbook yesterday and also upgraded my Sierra version from 2644 to 2753, since it only runs on the latest version - that worked; then I closed Sierra, and when I restarted, I was back on my old version 2644; I tried that a few times without success; then I uninstalled the chartbook again...but that didn't change anything...please help me with what I can do, or is it possible to get some remote help...thanks

Dear Support, first of all, thank you for the answer. My problem is the following: I installed a new chartbook with custom studies in my Sierra two days ago. Until two days ago, I was able to work smoothly with my version 2644 and was very satisfied. However, the new chartbook required a more recent version, so I performed an upgrade installation. After that, everything worked fine, including my other chartbooks. After shutting down my Sierra platform and trying to restart the next day, I was back on the old version 2644, where neither the new nor my old chartbooks worked! I then deleted the new version and simply wanted to continue with my version 2644 and my chartbooks, which then also no longer worked correctly on version 2644. Although I can now manually upgrade to a new version (2753) each time, when I close and restart, I'm back on 2644. This is my problem...that the installation of the new version disappears upon restart...I hope I was able to explain it clearly. Perhaps it's just a small thing that's causing this error, but I'm not a programming or technology expert, so I'm hoping and asking you to help me here and, ideally, offer a remote call to resolve the issue or give me advice on how to get it working again. Thank you very much. |

OK we understand what the problem is . You have 8 installations of Sierra Chart. Two of which are sub instances. The sub instances are not of concern. But those should only be started through File >> New Instance. When you say, that you start Sierra Chart and you are going back to 2644 that is not Sierra Chart doing that. You are just starting a different installation compared to the one you have updated and it is the older version. You are going to have to figure this out and determine which installation you want to use. This is too many installations, for us to understand which one you want to run. It is too hard for us to help with this in a call. We do not know what would be the right installation. We can give you a list, of all of the installation folders that we see. Let us know. Hopefully that would help you. When you run a particular installation you can create a shortcut for it following these instructions: Software Download: Setting up Shortcut to Sierra Chart This is easily resolved: After shutting down my Sierra platform and trying to restart the next day, I was back on the old version 2644, where neither the new nor my old chartbooks worked! I then deleted the new version and simply wanted to continue with my version 2644 and my chartbooks, which then also no longer worked correctly on version 2644.
This happens because you have saved the Chartbooks in a newer version of Sierra Chart and they are not compatible with an older version. To solve this, use a backup Chartbook: Chartbooks (Workspaces): Accessing a Backup Chartbook File And we definitely do not recommend deleting any files unless you are sure about what you are doing.
