Hello Sierra,
When saving a chart configuration, is it possible to also save specific text with the configuration that is applied each time the configuration is selected?

Thank you

It depends on the particular drawing as to whether it allows for text to be saved with it or not. What is the drawing for which you are wanting this?

Hi John,
The specific drawings are:
1. Horizontal Line
2. Horizontal Ray
3. Extending Rectangle

Thank you

All three of these tools have the option for "Copy Tool Config Name to Text". Therefore, what you want to do is to name the Configurations as you save them, and then that name will be used for the text for that tool when it is drawn. Refer to the information for "Copy Config Name to Text" in the following section:

Hi John,
Thanks for the link.

I have followed the instructions (enabled "Copy Tool Config Name To Text") for the Horizontal Line tool, however, while the line color and visual settings are being applied, the text is only being applied to the first two configuration.

Attached a short video showing the issue. I have cleared and reapplied the configs and the problem still persists.

Hi John,
Just updated to 2700 and the issue still exists.

We are not seeing any problem with this on version 2700. Make sure each configuration has the name saved as well as the option for "Copy Tool Config Name to Text" set to "Yes".

Thank you John. I didn't notice that each configuration had it's own settings under the Global settings for the respective tool. I thought the single tool setting applied to all configurations.

Each configuration has its own settings, that way you can have configurations that are completely different from one another.

John,
Is there an option to "clear" previous text if applying a configuration that doesn't have "Copy Tool Config Name To Text" set to "Yes"?

For example, if Config 1 has a configuration name of "Pivot" and "Copy Tool Config Name To Text" is set to "Yes", however, Config 2 has "Copy Tool Config Name To Text" set to "No", if Config 1 is applied by default when the line is first drawn, when applying Config 2, the text of "Pivot" remains, i.e., it isn't cleared.

Does this make sense?

Cheers

We understand what you are asking and the answer is that this is the way it works. Once a particular text is associated with a line, it is part of that line. So when you change the configuration, that text is going to stay.

The only workaround for this would be to create a configuration that has a space for the Config Name and has the option for "Copy tool Config Name to Text" set to "Yes". This will then put a space for the text, which is going to be invisible.

Hello,
Is it possible to update this setting to be within tool properties instead of navigating to Global Settings > Tool Config settings.

The whole purpose of that setting is to copy the Configuration Name to the drawing Text when a drawing is first used. Therefore, it does not make sense for this option to be on the Properties window, as at that point the drawing is already done and those settings are to modify the existing drawing.
