Hi, First time I used SC, it was 2010. So it has been 13 years. I like SC and appreciate the good work you have done over the years. I know that you are focused on your own data feed and focused on futures trading. Certainly you know that the market for your software for stock trading is much bigger than the futures. The only broker SC works with is IB. IB TWS has significantl functionality for serious stock traders that is not in SC. A combination of SC and TWS is excellent. I am aware that you do not like IB due to issues with IB interface. However given that serious stock trader need the extensive TWS functionality that is not available in SC and that SC working with TWS is such a great system, please resolve the symbol issue that is developing in newer versions of SC. Until my upgrade to the latest version from much older version, I was able to enter symbols in SC such as AMD. After the upgrade, SC requires AMD-STK-SMART-USD. As you can imagine, a large trader trading 100 different stocks, having to type in the extra stuff is making SC very inefficient. I know you take pride in the efficiency of SC. I agree SC is very efficient. Entering all the extra stuff in leads to missing fast moving trades. My purpose is to help you keep SC as a very efficient and usable software. Please fix the issue at your earliest. Please let me know if I can help. |

Why do you say that this is a Sierra Chart issue? We do not have anything that forces a specific symbol. If you are getting an error that you need to have additional information in the symbol, then that error is coming from Interactive Brokers. There were changes from Interactive Brokers from at least 1 year ago where we first saw this. It's possible that you recently updated your TWS software and that is why you are now getting this error. Hi John, Something happened with SC yesterday that is causing this problem. Here are the key points that will help you troubleshoot. 1.The older version I was using was very recent, not a year old. 2.Day before yesterday, everything was working fine. As an example, quotes in quote boards were fine. Yesterday, a large number of symbols that were fine the day before started showing 0.00 for price. 3.There were no changes to Tws or SC version at this point. 4.I separately work with IB API. I looked at IB API and found no changes. 5. I called IB and spoke to their API specialist. He confirmed there was no change in Ib api. 6. At his point I looked at other programs that I use with Ib api. Quotes on the symbols that SC was having problems with were fine in other programs. 7. At this point, I upgraded SC to the current version. The problem with symbols remains with the newest version. I am a big fan of SC. As I stated, I have been using SC for 13 years. If I can help more, please let me know. Please fix the problem urgently because this problem is causing SC to becomeextremely inefficient for large stock traders. It is causing me to miss fast moving trades because it takes so long to enter symbols. |
