Why do you say that this is a Sierra Chart issue? We do not have anything that forces a specific symbol. If you are getting an error that you need to have additional information in the symbol, then that error is coming from Interactive Brokers. There were changes from Interactive Brokers from at least 1 year ago where we first saw this. It's possible that you recently updated your TWS software and that is why you are now getting this error.
