Are there any performance (CPU/Memory) hits for having multiple chartbooks open in one instance? Was under the impression multiple chartbooks open would be a lot more resource intensive or is the selected/visible chartbook using the resources and all others are in the background?

Example Products Traded -> ES, NQ, RTY, CL, NG, GC, UB

Option #1 -> One chartbook, multiple charts for trading (TPO, Tick, Renko, Hrly, DOM etc) switch between trading symbols via linking & quoteboard.

Option #2 -> Chartbook open for each contract, multiple charts for trading (TPO, Tick, Renko, Hrly, DOM etc) can now be fully customized for each specific contract. Switch between trading symbols via clicking chartbook tab for that product.

Refer to the following and the section after it:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.47 - Use Sub Instances to Distribute Processing Load

We have set this as a User Discussion, as the user base will be able to give you better information on their experiences with various setups.

John thanks for the link I had read that and it doesn't answer the question. Are all open chartbooks using resources or are they in the background using little to none and the foreground window/chartbook is?

I think they do use resources. Unless u enable destroying hidden windows under the general settigs 4 tab.

This was a poorly framed question on my part hence it got booted to user discussion...

Regarding hidden windows under general settings I've had that checked but misunderstood it's relation to chartbooks thought it related to charts only (being minimized see below.) After re-reading it does appear if destroying hidden windows is checked all open chartbooks do not use resources, just the current one.

As a side note I have a monthly TPO chart if I have it visible SC performance takes a huge hit, once I minimize it SC speeds right back to normal. Seeing this type of performance hit/action actually led to this question about charts in other chartbooks open.
