Having trouble with chart overlay. An example of what I would like to do- overlay today’s chart 1700-1659session time over last Friday 1700-1659 session time. I have read instructions and tried all overlay studies available and closest I can get is to have the previous sessions price or study start populating backwards from the right side of the chart. I have tried left side scale also. Thank you. |

The only way to do what you are asking for is to ensure the amount of time in both charts is the same (i.e. the one day from 17:00 - 16:59) with the bars being the same amount of time in both charts. Then use the Study/Price Overlay and set the option for Match Source Bars to Destination Bars is set to No. Then it will just line up bars starting at the beginning and going forward. Refer to the following: Study/Price Overlay Study For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you, I made some progress. Even though the overlay did not populate backwards (from the latest/last candle of the day towards the first)it still did not start out at the far left, it started printing around 14:15 etc. I have spent the evening on the support forums and have not been able to find anything relevant to try, do you have any other ideas or a different approach I could take? |

As we stated, in order to really do this correctly, the number of bars in both charts has to be the same, so the same starting and ending times for the sessions and the same time period per bar. If you do that, it should work. The only other way to do what you want would be to create a custom study to copy the data to the prior time period and then display that data. If you are interested, you will find the information for custom studies starting here: Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL): Introduction For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
