Custom Indicator Selection Freezing Platform

Hello, I have been experiencing SC Platform Freezing (locking-up) when I select Custom Indicator Button...This is happening quite frequently whether I am in a detached chart or not...I have to shut platform via task manager and restart. Please advise.. Thank you in advance, David |

I've had this happen a few times over the past yr...never b4 that. Anyway, one or more of your custom dll files is causing a problem. More then likely if you move a recently compiled dll out of the data folder things should work fine. You'll then need to rebuild the cpp. |

Thank you kindly SgtJ Your suggestion worked It seems that there is an issue with one of the studies within the UserContributedStudies.dll file. Hi Crazybears... YES...I created a DLLBackup Folder and dumped the UserContributedStudies.dll file into that folder...So this .dll is no longer active in the main /data folder...Seems to be working fine now without freezing. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-04-26 19:47:36

Install the latest version, 1250, of Sierra Chart and let us know if you still see a problem. We rebuilt the UserContributedStudies DLL file.

OK...Here is what I experience following update to version 1250 Installed ver 1250 with UserContributedStudies DLL file update Platform Freezes...Same original problem persists I removed UserContributedStudies DLL file to DLLBackup Restarted SC...NO Freezing when requesting Custom Study on sequential requests So from my perspective some particular study within the UserContributedStudies DLL is corrupt What say others? OK...Here is additional input I currently run two(2) iterations of Sierra Chart 1.) Infinity (AT) Chart 2.) Stand-Alone with IQFeed The problem seems to be only associated with Infinity (AT) chart and NOT Stand-Alone IQFeed Hope this narrows the troubleshooting for everyone Thanks, David |

When SC Engineering first reported they had rebuilt UserContributedStudies.dll, I left it in the Data folder and all seemed well. (This was with either 1249 or 1250, I've forgotten which.) Later, I again experienced freezing with high CPU usage when selecting the "Add Custom Study" button. I again removed UserContributedStudies.dll from the Data folder and everything worked OK. I know this was with 1250. I assumed it was related to the number of charts and studies that I had opened at the time. Just now, I put the UserContributedStudies.dll back into the Data folder, and with all my charts, studies and custom studies loaded; there was no lock up when selecting the "Add Custom Study" button. Perhaps you could rebuild UserContributedStudies.dll again with 1251. (Or 1252, I suppose.) If you do, then I shall rebuild all my custom studies. |

There is still a problem with the UserContributedStudies.DLL file when click the "add custom study" button. Watch here (1:43): http://www.therationaltrader.com/sierrachartvideo.php Easy workaround if you know what to do, and aren't using any of the custom studies in that file. regards, shane |

We are now finally ready for you to test this. Install the latest prerelease. If you already have the prerelease version, download and install it again because we made a revision to it. Beside the Analysis >> Studies >> Add Custom Study button there is a checkbox "Debug Log". Enable this. Press the Add Custom Study button. The necessary logging will be saved to a file in the Logs subfolder of the Sierra Chart folder with a filename format similar to this: Message Log 2015-07-04 104051.log Attach this file here and we will see what the problem is. Regarding post #20, we would like to know if the problem is still encountered on the latest prerelease. You can update with Help >> Download Prerelease. If you do not want to use the prerelease, you can install it into a separate folder and test. Hi Sierra Chart Engineering first i have to report that SC 1270 now works properly , see: Error after updating new release but i found is the version of SC with new spreadsheet that are causing SC freezing when custom studies are added, in my case the second time i add a custom study. when first release of SC 1270 didn't work , i came back to 1269 but with new spreadsheet version. every time i tried to add a second custom studies., SC freezes . I tried with 1270 new spreadsheet and problem was still here. I have installed 1270 with old spreadsheet and now all works fine. i looked in the Logs subfolder of the Sierra Chart folder but i didn't find messagelogxxxxxxx.log only CQC log |
