a) After managing to load intraday data going back to December 2007 (I don't know if there's more available, but that would be nice), I found a significant data gap between January 2012 and February 2026 on the intraday chart. In any case, after a while, the data disappeared, and I was back to seeing the usual 20 days. I want to see the maximum amount of data possible—without gaps—from the earliest available date up to the present for the intraday chart. I’m not sure if this affects the total number of candles (I don't think so) or just the start date. I’d like the data loading to be permanently configured to start from the earliest possible date, and for this setting to apply automatically to all my currently loaded charts as well as any I open in the future.

b) Modifying the data load for daily (and intraday) charts only affected the chart I had "selected" at the time—before accessing the settings—but didn't change the other independent charts (for the same symbol) in my workspace. Furthermore, every time I made a quick change to the time period using the control bar, the chart would start reloading all the intraday data, which took quite a while and largely defeated the purpose of a "quick" time period change.

c) Don't ask me how, but I managed to view the chart going back to 1980 using daily candles; now it won't show up anymore—one of life's mysteries. That is exactly what I need, and I don't know how to set it up again—permanently, for all the charts in my workspace.

a) Once you have the data in the chart, it should stay that way unless you make a change to the chart itself.

In general, we have data going back to 2007 for FOREX. But it will depend on the specific symbol. What is one symbol for which you are having an issue?

There are a few concepts that you need to understand in terms of how Sierra Chart works.

First, in terms of the data, there is the amount of data that downloaded and stored on your computer which is separate from the amount of data that is actually loaded into an individual chart. Refer to the following for how much data is downloaded the first time you open a chart for a symbol:
Data/Trade Service Settings: Maximum Historical Intraday Days to Download (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings)

The next concept is the difference between Daily data and Intraday data. The Daily data is the Open/High/Low/Close/Volume for each day. When you display Daily and higher timeframe charts, it uses this data. Intraday data gives you the individual trades that make up the data. When you are displaying charts of any timeframe less than 1 day, it uses this data.

We need to know one symbol for which you are having an issue with the data so we can see what data we specifically have for that symbol.

b) Every chart will start with the default amount of time to load. Refer to the following for how to change this default:
Chart Settings: Save Days to Load, Intraday Bar Period, Graph Draw Type as Default (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Chart Data menu)

c) See our information in part a) related to Intraday versus Daily data. There will be more Daily data available than Intraday data. But as noted, the Daily data does not have a lot of information within it.

Muchas gracias

Thank you for your reply.
I know the difference between timeframes; I’ve been trading for 25 years, 20 of them with the EUR/USD pair. I haven't been using your platform for long, though—it is very powerful, certainly, but nothing works easily or on the first try.
As I said, I tried every possible method before asking for help. After successfully loading intraday data going back to 2007 and daily data to 1980—which seems to be the maximum data available for the Euro/Dollar—and saving my workspace, the platform reverts to its default state upon reopening. All the loaded data disappears, and it goes back to the usual view:
I can only see the last 20 days of the chart, and the earliest day drops off as the latest day advances; today, the 25th, I only see back to the 5th; tomorrow, the 26th, I’ll only see back to the 6th.

How do I fix this? I want to apply the maximum available historical timeframe to any chart currently in my workspace or any I might open in the future.
Please explain it as if I were a 10-year-old. Thanks.

Also, as I mentioned in my previous message, when I finally managed to load the historical data onto some of my charts before it disappeared:

a) It didn't automatically load onto the other charts by default—I need this to happen automatically. In other words, if I’ve loaded a 6-day chart with data going back to 1980, I want to see data back to 1980 on my pre-configured 12-day chart as well, or on any other daily chart I might open later.
b) When I switched timeframes on a daily or intraday chart that *did* have historical data loaded—using the quick timeframe switcher on the control bar—the chart would "think" for a while before finally loading the historical view. That loading time isn't compatible with a feature designed for quick timeframe switching.

How do I resolve issues (a) and (b) so that all my charts work properly?

Many thanks.

What you are stating should not be occurring. Once you have the proper amount of data loaded for a chart, then that chart should continue to show that same amount of data.

As time goes on, the amount of data in the chart will increase until there is a reload, or a restart of the system. In this case, the number of days will revert back to the amount that is set for the chart. For instance, if you have a chart set to load 20 days, and you keep the program open for 5 days, then you will end up with 25 days. If you then restart, that chart will go back to only showing 20 days.

For an intraday chart in which you are having an issue, what are the following settings in "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting" set to:
- Date Range in File From
- Load Data Limiting Method
- Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type

a) We answered this previously. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Save Days to Load, Intraday Bar Period, Graph Draw Type as Default (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Chart Data menu)

b) Changing the timeframe will cause the data to be reloaded. It has to be in order to recalculate the new time frame bars. But, this should not be long. Are you seeing a long time for this change? How long is it taking?

Hola.

Adjunto 2

3) Cambio el límite de 20 días por 7500 (para llegar al 2007), elijo "use number of days to load" o bien "use data range" y después pulso "Apply all", seguido de "ok". Adjunto 3.

Adjunto 4

Adjunto 5.

He guardado mi espacio de trabajo y lo he vuelta a abrir, y ahí estaban.

Hello. You say you’ve already answered me, but I’m telling you I’ve tried every possible way and nothing works.
Furthermore, you aren't answering any of my detailed questions; you just keep repeating what *shouldn't* be happening when I follow the prescribed steps.
I’m going to provide screenshots showing what’s on my screen, the steps I take to get the historical charts, and the resulting output.

1) I select the 720-minute chart in my workspace. However, as I mentioned, I should be able to pre-configure this so it’s pre-loaded for every single chart I have. Attachment 1

2) I go to the chart, then chart settings, then "data limiting," and under the data limit, I see that pesky 20-day limit that always appears on my chart. Could it be because my trial period is still active? In any case, I’ve already paid for the first month and asked Support to switch me to full-access mode; they told me simply loading the data would be enough. Anyway, here we are. Attachment 2

3) I change the 20-day limit to 7,500 (to go back to 2007), select either "use number of days to load" or "use data range," and then click "Apply all," followed by "OK." Attachment 3.

4) The result is that it loads the intraday chart starting from 2007, but with a huge gap between May 2009 and February 2026—no small issue. Attachment 4
I get the same result—let me repeat—whether I choose the "Load Data Limiting Method" -> "Use number of days to load" option or the "Use data range" option.

5) If I choose the Daily chart option, it *does* load the chart starting from 1993, with no gaps or issues.
Attachment 5.

I saved my workspace and reopened it, and the charts were there. It seems both historical charts were saved, but with glitches. What a hassle! 1) If I load the 6-day chart using, for example, the "Historical chart" / "use number of days to load" option (see attachment 5), the entire chart loads correctly—as I mentioned—and saves properly. However, the problem arises the moment I switch the time period to one of the options on my Control Bar (e.g., 72 days): VOILÀ!! The historical data vanishes and cannot be recovered; it reverts to showing only those pesky 20 days.

2) On the other hand, if I load the 6-day chart by selecting "use data range" (see attachment), it initially loads correctly from 1993 to the present. But this time, when I change the time period, the chart doesn't disappear. However, a gap appears—similar to the one seen in the intraday chart—where data from 1993 is no longer displayed, showing only data from 2007 onwards, even though I simply switched from a 6D to a 72D period.

I suspect... could there be an issue with the chart's source? In other words, if the chart originated as an intraday chart but I later switched it to a 72D chart, perhaps the software continues to treat it as intraday.

If that is the case, we are facing yet another problem—it never ends, haha—because, as you’ve seen in my workspace, I require linked charts. I need whatever I draw on a 60-minute chart to be visible when I zoom in or out (micro or macro levels). For instance, if I draw a Fibonacci retracement on a 60-minute chart, I want to see it instantly on a 5-minute or 100-minute chart without reloading historical data, and without losing data gaps or drawings.

The AI mentioned that, coming from Visual Chart, I might face a steep learning curve with your platform. Honestly, this is starting to feel like a rollercoaster ride.

Thank you very much for your help.

Let's just deal with one issue at a time and work through this slowly.

Pick one chart, just one. Set the chart up as you want it. If you have a problem with getting the chart setup as you want it, then we need to know what exactly is not showing/working properly. We can then help you resolve it from there.

Once you have the chart setup, then please tell us the following:
- Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol
- Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range in File From
- Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method

If the "Load Data Limiting Method" is set to "Use Number of Days to Load", then get us the following:
- Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type

If the "Load Data Limiting Method" is set to "Use Date Range", then get us the following:
- Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range From
- Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range To

Adjunto 1

I believe I have explained myself quite clearly, but I will repeat it for you:

I have shown you my workspace. Attachment 1.

I selected one chart—just one—the 720-minute chart (from the main charts, the ones at the bottom), as I mentioned in my previous post:

""1) I select the 720-minute chart in my workspace.""
""3) I change the limit from 20 days to 7,500 (so it loads data going back to 2007), select either "use number of days to load" or "use data range," and then click "Apply to all," followed by "OK." Attachment 3 (I am adding this now because I previously exceeded the attachment limit).""
""4) The result is that it loads the intraday chart starting from 2007, but with a huge gap between May 2009 and February 2026—which is no minor issue. (What a massive jump). Attachment 4. I get the same result—let me repeat this—whether I choose the "Data loading limit method" -> "Use number of days to load" option or the "Use data range" option.""

P.S.: The result is the same—that is, a huge jump in the chart between May 2009 and February 2026—if I load the data using either method on any of my intraday charts (the ones at the bottom): 60, 100, 1200 minutes...

Thank you for your help.

Let's deal with the gap in the data then. Please do the following for that chart and with that chart the active chart.
- Select "Edit >> Delete All Data and Download".
- Select "Chart >> Chart Settings". Go to the "Data Limiting" tab.
- Change the "Date Range in File From" to "2007-12-03".
- Select OK to close the Chart Settings window.
- You may get a prompt asking you if you are really wanting to download data going back to 2007. Answer "Yes" (or OK) to this question.
- Wait for the data to download.

Your chart should be correct after you do this. If you have other charts that use the same symbol and have data going back far enough that they show this gap, then go to each of those charts and select "Edit >> Reload and Recalculate". This will reload the data for that symbol into that chart and will resolve the issue for those charts.

Ok.
Parece que ya se ha cargado correctamente. Muchas gracias.

Okay.
It seems to have loaded correctly now. Many thanks.

However, it takes a very long time to load, especially given that I have quite a few charts (see my workspace in the attachments).
Is there any other method to load all the intraday charts at once?

Also, as was already apparent when I only had part of the chart loaded, the "quick" timeframe switch isn't really quick.

Even before, with only a portion of the chart, it took time to make a "quick" timeframe switch. Now, with the full chart, it takes 28 seconds (I timed it) to switch from a 720-minute chart to a 5-minute one. In other words, if I select the 720-minute chart from my main charts and click the "quick" switch button for 5 minutes on the top control bar, it takes half a minute to load. This is completely impractical, as it's something I do constantly—dozens, or even hundreds of times a day.

Perhaps I'm not using the quick timeframe switch correctly. What I need is to be able to switch from a 720-minute chart to a 60-minute, 5-minute, or 6-day chart quickly, while preserving all the graphic elements—Fibonacci levels, lines, text, etc.—that were on the original main chart or drawn on one of the secondary charts. I *have* managed to achieve this with the "quick" switch—meaning everything works the way I want it to, except for the fact that the switch takes a very long time.

Is there some other similar function, like linked charts or something similar? Something where a change in one chart is reflected in the other without the wait?

The thing is, if I switch from 720 minutes to 5 minutes using the tabs at the bottom—next to the time axis, which I call "my main charts"—the switch is instantaneous, with no waiting.

Thanks again.

The "Fast Changing" option, as it is called in our documentation at the following link:
Changing Chart Bars Period: Fast Changing by Keyboard

Is not called "Fast" because the data will load fast, just that it is fast to do using just the keyboard.

In the end, the amount of time it takes to load a chart is going to depend on the storage time unit of the data and how much data is loaded in the chart.

Since you have your data going all the way back to 2007, you have a lot of data, and this is why you are having it take nearly 30 seconds to load a chart when you change the timeframe.

The solution is to use multiple charts already set to the individual timeframes you want. It sounds like you have already setup this up somewhat.

Drawings can be copied between charts then. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Copy Chart Drawings from Chart #'s (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawings menu)

We do not know what else you may be wanting to keep the same, but refer to the Linking options at the following link:
