Charts and DOM freeze during headlines

Hi there,

I have been experiencing an issue with charts and DOM freezing up each time there are headlines which move the markets like the recent US-Iran war headlines. I am using SC's data, while executing to an apex (rithmic) account.
I have a main instance with charts, 2nd instance for execution, stripped down with DOMs and a few charts and little indicators and a 3rd instance for other longer term charts.
What can I do to resolve this. Thank you.

Refer to the information at the following link for what occurred on June 9, 2026, as there was nothing you could have done to prevent this:

Hi John, thank you for the response.

It wasn't just on Jun 9 for me. It had occurred in the past each time a headline drops with significant reaction. I have a parallel jigsaw trading DOM that is connected to tradovate, which doesn't freeze at all. I have recordings of it. What other possible fixes are there? Thank you again.

In general, when we look into various incidents, we typically do not see anything on our end of things. The one exception being what occurred on June 9, 2026.

Given a burst of data, and that we handle it just fine on our end, the implication is that it is something in the connectivity between your system and our servers that is causing the issue. Since the data uses the public Internet for transmission, there simply is nothing we can do, and there is nothing specifically in Sierra Chart that can be done to "resolve" it.

We do our best to minimize any impact, but if there is an issue with packet transmission somewhere along the line, then that is not anything we have control over.

Have there been any more issues today? My Denali/CME data feed has been lagging and stuttering the past couple hours.

Thank you.

My data delays are all over the place too up to 2+ seconds. Not sure how much it matters but DS28 ping intermittently has packet loss up to 17% where I'm at.

Spent the last hour troubleshooting with ISP tech and they don't see anything. Only using Sierra NTP/Timers. W32 time/Internet synch disabled.

Chart still run fine but annoying.

There are no issues with our services at this time, and there was just the one glitch on June 9, 2026 for anything recently that has occurred.

The fact that a "Ping" request is showing a lack of connectivity is a direct reflection of the Internet connectivity you have and not of our connections to the Internet backbone that we use.

I'm having the exact same issues with my 1 chart, tape and dom freezing up. The problem still persists after creating an instance for 1 ES dom (50ms refresh), another instance for 5 min chart with tape (100ms refresh). I have a NinjaTrader dom on a separate laptop nowhere as good as the one Sierra is installed on and while it's had issues, Sierra is freezing far more frequently. I'm digging through performance posts etc. to see if there's something I missed. Only 500 records are loaded on the tape and 1 day data loaded in dom/chart (I'd do less if I could).

I'll take any suggestions to help smooth things out.

Denali Date freeze for around 15 seconds on the current headline release at 08:41 Central. AFter that complete disconnect and reconnect at 08:44 central.

Hi all, just wanted to share with you a possible fix for this.
Isolate the core of your execution instance; For me my main instance which has the most charts are assigned CPU 0-5; execution instance - 6,7; long term chart instance - 8,9.
With one sample of newsflow today, I could see the freeze happen on my main instance but the execution instance was still going. I have to monitor it for more newsflow occurence to see if this is really a fix though.

Hi Cesium, there wasn't any CME halts. The limit moves required for CME halt is huge. Today's volatility is considered mild. it's on your end.

@User454729 My post was addressed only to Sierra Team. I do not have the wrongful-CPU allocation issue you have in post#11.
