This is purely informational in case anyone else encounters this problem. Windows 11 generated a message that one of my custom dll files was being flagged by Smart App Control in Windows 11 because it did not recognize it or something to that effect. It would not allow the dll file to load and goodness knows what else it did. The result was the study and other studies that depended on it stopped working together with the log file being filled with error messages. To correct this reinstall your current version of Sierra Chart or reinstall the latest version if you wish. You may or may not need to recompile your offending dll. Also, turn off Smart App Control. Excluding the Sierra Chart folder from Windows Security did not prevent this problem from reoccurring, but turning off Smart App Control did. |

We would be surprised if you actually have to reinstall Sierra Chart. We would think that the worst case would be to reboot your computer after turning off the Smart App Control, just to ensure that there is not some lingering Microsoft service running that is still attached to Sierra Chart. We would think just restarting Sierra Chart would be enough.

I found an older post where something similar was being experienced, but not exactly my scenario. The advice on that post by Sierra Chart support was to exclude the Sierra Chart folder from Windows Security and to reinstall Sierra Chart. So I did that and it worked for me initially, but then it reoccurred the next day, which was a surprise. That is when I turned off Smart App Control. I did not try what you recommended above, but if it works, it would be simpler. |
