Charts freezing in the middle of the trading day

This is the second day this is happening, software is working fine, suddenly charts freeze and i get the message waiting to download historical intraday data..... this takes very long time to continue, when it finishes i get a time gap in the chart.... the DOM is working fine though and the trades are ongoing, just the charts freeze. updating sierra chart, restarting the computer, deleting the .scid file did not help.

You are connecting to and getting your data from Rithmic. What is occurring is that you are losing your connection to Rithmic, and when the system reconnects, it tries to get any missing historical data. But since Rithmic has a lack of historical data, you are not getting that data from them, so it goes missing.

You may be having a general issue with your Internet causing the connectivity issue, but we have seen this kind of issue with Rithmic quite often. Also, we had reports yesterday of a few people having issues connecting to Rithmic.

If you use the data from our Denali Exchange Data Feed, then you will at least be able to get the missing data back into your chart. But it will not resolve the connectivity issue. Refer to the following for information on our Denali Exchange Data Feed:

thanks for your reply John.... but does that explain why the DOM remains functional and not freezing?


P.S actually.... just noticed that the DOM does also freeze.. let me correct myself.
