I have two instances of SC on my machine. After a routine update this evening, one of them will not start. The error message reads: Sierra Chart Initialization error: Error Starting network socket core. If you need more help, contact Sierra Chart Support for assistance. When I looked on line, it said this was usually do to antivirus software. I don't have any running on this machine, and my other instance updated and starts just fine. Can you help? Thanks |

We have released version 2872. See if this resolves the problem. For the instance that does not start go into the folder where it is installed and run this file: SierraChartFileDownloader.exe When the installer starts, press the Install button. Well, yes, I am available for remote. I did as the second message said (didn't see the first one initially), and it did start, then crashed during the update, then restarted, but it looks like I've lost all my settings and chartbooks?? |

Correction, the CBs are in the folder, but the new instance isn't seeing them. So that install created a new Sierra Chart Folder, and created a new SierraChart_64.exe in the subfolder I was trying to repair. The damaged instance was located in E:\NQ Ref. And the exe for this instance was renamed SierraChart_64Ref.exe. I went to that folder and ran the installer. The installer created a new folder E:\Sierra Chart, and created a new .exe in the original subfolder (SierraChart_64.exe), along with new config files that overwrote the existing configs. I changed the paths in Global Settings to reference the old Folder. I still couldn't see the CBs so I closed it, and just to check, used the old/original .exe and the original did come back to life, but its a bit of a mess. The studies are not referencing correctly, and I seem to have lost all the formulas in a fairly large spreadsheet. All the sheets are still there, but the formulas are gone. |

OK, So I exited and said No to save. I then tried to use my shortcut to the original .exe to start it back up and got the network error message. But when I go directly to the folder and select the .exe, it starts. The difference appears to be, starting with the shortcut allows it to run with Admin privileges, while starting directly from the folder .exe does not. Thought that might be useful to you. I have a backup from midnight last night. Would you recommend I simply restore the entire folder? |

It's pretty late here now. I have to sign off. I'll look for a response to my question regarding the restore in the morning. Thanks for the help so far. |

We will help you with all of this, on Sunday. None of this is a problem to resolve because there are backups of all of the files. We realize that version, 2872 did not resolve the problem about the network socket core which is actually not the real error. The real error is with OpenGL. Version 2873 will resolve the issue. We are working on that now.

Ok. Let me know when you're available. Or perhaps post a time you'd like to schedule and give me an hour lead time so we don't keep trying to catch the posts and waiting for the other to get back. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2026-02-01 13:57:29

I was able to get the NQ Ref opened and running by rolling back to 2803. I immediately disabled the Open GL. The only remaining issue I have is that the sub instance is opening with the wrong graphics. I assume I need to bring the Sierra4.config file up from the Backus folder? If you could confirm that would be great. DISREGARD. I have them all up and running on 2874. Thank you. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2026-02-02 00:13:40
