Sometimes, when I try to use the Replay function, I have to first shut down the SC software and start it back up and then try to replay the charts or SC will just display, "Downloading Continuous Contract Data" and never proceed to the Replay. Is there a workaround for this or can you fix this in a future update?

Also, sometimes the replay function will be working fine and then an order will display on the replaying charts, and I have no idea where it came from. Is there a way to fix this also?

Thanks.

In general, this should not occur. And when running a replay you should not get a "Downloading Continuous Contract Data" message. Make sure you have the data already loaded in the chart prior to starting the replay.

We wonder if you do not have enough resources available on your computer for what you are trying to do, particularly in terms of memory.

You would need to figure out where that order is coming from. Although if you are not clearing old data, then this could be an existing order and the system is just displaying it through the replay.

It might be a memory problem as to why it displays Downloading Continuous Contract Data and never starts the replay? However, If I shut down SC and start again, then the replay will start and proceed as it should. If nothing else changes, why does SC require that it be shutdown and then restarted before the replay function will operate correctly. If it was a memory issue, wouldn't it still be there when I shutdown and restart SC?

If I select that I want to clear the data and orders before starting the replay then why does it still display a random order out of nowhere?

It is due to the fact that you state that you can reboot and everything will work fine that we think this is a resource issue. We do not know why you are getting the "Downloading Continuous Contract Data" message. You should not, but that is why we ask if you have the data in the chart before starting the replay.

You must have something somewhere that is creating that order. You would need to look at what you have on the chart that would be causing this.

I don't Have to reboot, all I have to do is shutdown the SC software and then start it back. I don't reboot my computer. Then, I scroll back to the time I want to start the replay and SC works fine.

I don't think there are orders in the charts when I start the replay. Plus, if I select the "clear all trade data for symbol and account". doesn't that clear any order or previous simulated gains/losses?

The above procedure should clear any old data for the entire chartbook, correct?

When you try to start a Replay and you get the "Downloading Continuous Contract Data", then get us your Message Log by following these instructions:
Support Board Posting Information: How to Post Your Message Log (Required In Some Cases)

With regards to the order - if you have cleared the data, then there are no orders for that account, in which case, if an order shows up, then it must have something to do with a study you have on the chart.

One of the things we would like for you to try is to start Sierra Chart in "Safe Mode" and try to run the replay and see if everything works properly or if you continue to have both issues. Please let us know. Refer to the following for how to use "Safe Mode":
