Hello.

i am just trying to do some sim testing. i am using File > new instance. on that instance i just have my doms. I cannot get my positions, orders & fills to show on my charts on the main instance. though i can see pnls etc in the TAL from new instance but I cannot see trades in the TAL from the main instance from yesterday in the new instance. i have gone through other posts re this but cannot figure out what is wrong.

the symbols match. i have sim1 selected in the chart trade window for both DOM and chart. i do not have 'only orders from chart selected' for any dom or chart. i have show order fills and positions selected on the chart. i have tried manually setting the trade account in chart settings to sim1.

Any ideas what i have wrong? thanks

With a Sub-Instance, if you are using Simulation Mode, then if you want to view the trades for this in both instances you need to set the Sub-Instance "Trade Simulation Mode On" to Disabled. This way the orders get sent to the main instance for processing, and in that instance Trade Simulation Mode On is enabled so these will process as simulated orders. Refer to the following:

Thank you for the reply. that hasnt solved the issue though. if i disable sim trade mode on the sub instance and keep it enabled on the main instance then orders are immediately cancelled. i also cannot select sim1 account from the account select drop down. it just reverts to the live account. any ideas? thanks

What you are stating should not be occurring. If the Main instance has "Trade >> Trade Simulation Mode On" enabled, then when you disable "Trade >> Trade Simulation Mode On" on the sub-instance, you should have access to the Sim accounts as they are defined in the main instance.

Keep in mind that the sub-instance may change to the live account, but you should be able to change it to the simulation account. Check to see if the Simulation accounts are available in the Trade Window. Refer to the following:
Basic Trading and the Trade Window: Main/C >> Trade Account (Selecting Trade Account for Chart / Trade DOM)

When i disable sim mode on the sub instance and try and select sim1 from the DOM trade window it just reverts back to the brokerage account. as in its not possible to select sim1, it switches back instantly. i have just checked the trade window from the main instance chart and that is on sim1.

In the Sub-Instance set the following option to "No". Then you will be able to select the Simulation Account you want.
Global Trade Settings Windows: Select Non-Sim Trade Account on Entering Non-Sim Mode in SubInstances (Global Settings >> General Trade Settings >> General)

If the sub-instance had "Simulation Mode On" enabled when the trades were done, then that trading information is only available in that sub-instance. The same is also true for any trading done in the Main Instance - these trades will NOT show in the sub-instance at all - it is a one-way connection.

Another option would be to use the "Simulated Futures Trading Service", as this will allow all trading done to be shown in all instances. Refer to the following:
