Let's say I have my broker connection as my data/trade connection and Denali support enabled. Let's imagine that for some reason, I can't connect to my broker. Is it possible to still get live Denali data with updating the chartbook? As far as I can see, I only have one option if I can't connect to my broker: change the symbols of every chart in the chartbook by "translate symbols to current service" and choose the "SC Data" Data/Trade service. Is this correct? Or is there an easier way to say, "I'd like to get all the data I normally get, but just not worry about the broker connection since I can't route orders at this time anyway" ...? |

This statement is correct, except that you need to change the service first and then change the symbols. And when you select OK to close the Data/Trade Service Settings Window you are prompted to update the symbols then, so you should answer "Yes", in which case you should not need to select "Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service". Just to be complete, when you are not able to connect to the defined trading service, the data also stops. If you wouldn't mind, please note this as a long term feature request. Namely, the ability to transparently receive data when the broker can't connect and Denali support is enabled. One use case is this: I have a lightweight execution-only SC instance allocated directly for execution. DOMs and a chart or two only. The other instance is all charts, indicators, heavy CPU stuff, but I still would like to connect to my broker there as well, in order to see order fills and such on my main charts. However, maybe my broker doesn't allow weekend connections, so any weekend chart work would involve the procedure switch you mentioned above. Thanks for your reply. |
