In particular, step #16 that has you set the default server. This is a change that we found needed to be made for iOS in particular.
Yes

I have set "https://push.sierrachart.com" as the default server

I had not set in #24 the server to be https://push.sierrachart.com as I believe you said it was not necessary.

But just to test I now added it to step #24 and it still did not work

I would put the server in #24 as well, it's the only way I could get it to work on my iPhone.

If the "Default Server" is set properly, then there is no need to specifically set this in Step 24.

We just tested this again on iOS and it works correctly - if you have the default server set to "https://push.sierrachart.com" and do not specify a different server for the subscription, then it correctly connects that subscription to https://push.sierrachart.com.

You can see the server listed in the subscription, although it will not include the https:// - you will just see "push.sierrachart.com".

Nothing has worked for me. I am still stuck with ntfy app which will only show notifications under the list if I manually refresh it.

Am I the only iOS user who is having issues?

No you are not the only one, I am having exactly the same issue. Notifications arrive if I use the web based notifications on push.sierrachart.com so the setup is fine. But after configuring Ntfy (and entering the correct Default server, and again when adding the user, as you mush enter it again on iOS to proceed) correctly, and giving app notification permissions, notifications do not arrive, I have to manually refresh the app to see them.

Which is a problem, as that is the main point of the app. :)

UPDATE: after restarting the phone, deleting the app, and doing exactly the same thing again in the app (add Default server, add User, subscribe to notifications) it is working fine.

Ok. I finally got this work. This is what I did:

1) delete the ntfy from iOS device
2) toggle push notifications off/on https://www.sierrachart.com/UserControlPanel.php?page=PushNotifications
3) redo setup of ntfy app. I put "https://push.sierrachart.com" wherever possible

Thanks to @JVincent for help

Yes, it definitely needs to be in both server windows in the nfty app for it to work on iOS.

We are aware of ongoing problems with chat messages being sent through the ntfy app.

We have been actively working on an alternative with direct integration to Google firebase.

For now use our web-based chat:
Chat and Communications Platform: Web-Based/Mobile Chat Application

You will get messages instantly in real time through through this web-based chat. We know that in the case of a mobile device like iOS or Android type device, that when the device goes to the lock screen, that a web browser is going to go into a sleep state or whatever. Preventing messages from being received. But at least while your browser is active you will get messages. This is a reliable web-based chat.

nfty works great on iOS...you just have to set it up correctly by applying the "https://push.sierrachart.com" server addy in both spots during the set-up...it's actually much nicer than Telegram.

Agree with @JVincent

As I said in my last post, I have got it working now and wrote the steps I used to get it working

Though I don’t see why I had to do all those steps, so on one hand, another solution might be better. But for now ntfy is working. So I’d rather not setup yet another app unless the process is less painful than what I recently went through with ntfy.

Perhaps new users, following the steps as detailed will not go through any issues as we have going forward

We have added additional logging related to messages not being delivered to the ntfy app, or being delayed. We are getting closer to understanding the problem.

Also if a message is delayed to the ntfy app that delay time is now shown in the message itself in the ntfy app.

We think there is a good chance we will get this resolved with the ntfy app.

We think the weak link, and the source of the occasional issues, has to do with involvement of the Sierra Chart Web server. We are going to have direct integration, from our chat server process directly to the ntfy app server.

This change will take some time. It will also mean that users will need to go through integration steps again with the notify application.

It works perfectly for me now. Are there others actually having issues?

It seems like I still have to do a manual refresh probably every 5-7 days. Most days I don't have to do that, but I've seen a pattern where I eventually do need to refresh it. I'm on Android by the way.

The change we will be making is relatively minor, but it should resolve any further outstanding issues.

Is there a problem with or people working on the Chat inteface for NTFY? I still have to pull down the screen in NTFY for the number of messages to update. I have been receiving the alerts ok, just the problem with the screen updates(I'm guessing this is a NTFY problem as the alerts come through ok).

To try and resolve the update problem I went through the setup again on the NTFY app but am getting server 404 errors.

Have sorted out my problem with NTFY(Post #41). Receive my alerts and notified on my phone. Message count still needs to be updated manually, but I can live with that. Found setup needed to be done in a certain order for it to work.(For me at least.) Delay is next to nothing. I like the app.
