Dear Sir,

For some months now there has been a Trade Service Log that will not go away. If I close it or delete it in a few minutes it comes back. I tried minimizing it to the lower right screen corner as I use to do. However, now when I do that it just maximizes and comes back. Something changed during the Z rollover.

My chartbooks will not open automatically on start up now either. I have to wait for the green light and manually load each book. I have checked the start up window through Global Settings, and tried to correct it. I searched the help files and need some help to correct this, too please.

I use 2 plugin for VSA and VSA Volume that I purchased. However they are no longer in the Add Studies/Custom Studies folder. I don't know if that is something Support can correct or I have to contact Tradeguider, but I would like to get them reinstalled.

I saw your message: Thank You in Advance

1. We need to see what the Trade Service Log shows when it opens up. Copy and paste the last 10 lines of here.

2. Are the Chartbooks you want automatically open, listed in Global Settings >> General Settings >> Files Open on Start up?

3. This means the DLL files for these are not located in the Sierra Chart Data Files Folder. For help with this, refer to this page:

Answer to Post 16368: 1.Below is a copy of the entire Log. 2.Yes, the files I want to open are listed in Files Open on Start up. 3. I'll try to follow the link.

1. Some of these messages are from TransAct and they have the ability to open the Trade Service Log when they add a message. We know that they intend that.

2. What version of Sierra Chart are you running?

2. We would recommend removing the files from Global Settings >> General Settings >>Files to Open on Start up.

And then Add them again. Make sure when adding them, that you do not change the folder. Add them from the same folder that displays when you press the Add button.

2.I have removed all the files and closed the program, hopefully to close anything I might not know about. Then, I opened AT Charts, I went to Files to Open on Start up. It was empty of course. I clicked on Add and the file list opened. I added one file as a test...6JZ4.cht which I know came directly from Find Symbol. I clicked Apply/Save. I closed the program again and reopened it expecting that file to open. It did not. So, I don't know what is wrong. The only thing I can remember that is different is that when it was working properly there was always another Chartbook that I never wanted which opened first. It was ATCharts.cht. Is there some other connection I'm missing?

Sierra Chart Engineering - Posts: 104368
When you select File >> Open Chartbook and select 6JZ4.cht does it contain any charts?

Also we would do not recommend naming Chartbooks using a symbol. It can get confusing.

We need to add some more logging to diagnose the problem. This will be out in the next release.

Can you, please, tell me about when the next release will be, and will I be notified about it? Also, will this item be kept on your calendar and taken care of as it comes up amongst other problems; or do I need to check back with you? I'm not aware of your procedures and don't want to be a pest. I will work on restoring the DLL file in the mean time, so I will be able to manually open the files I want to work with for that session, but obviously that's an annoying way to operate. Thank you for your help so far, Alan Abraham

The new version is now out. Update Sierra Chart with Help >> Download Current Version.

In the Message Log near the top of it, you will see messages added indicating whether the files to open on startup are found and when they are being opened.

I downloaded the new version, 1192, and here is the log file for you. Files to open on Start Up has 3 Chartbook files in it: 6JZ4.cht,E7M4.cht (which I rolled over to 6EZ4.cht,but the name remains the same for some reason) and 6BZ4.cht. The log file says these files do not exist, but I can open them manually and they are fine. When I open AT Charts I get a error message that there is a problem with the Windows Error code 126 also. That may be why the Tradeguider plugin doesn't work, but it's to technical for me.

These files clearly do not exist within the Sierra Chart Data Folder you have specified:

Files to Open on Start up | File does not exist: C:\Users\Alan\E7M4.cht | 2014-09-18 13:22:26

You may have a misunderstanding about the difference between a chart data file and a Chartbook. Chartbooks are documented here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_Chartbooks.html

The name of these are all based upon a chart data file. Based upon the name, these do not even look like Chartbooks.

I read the above link and went back and changed the names of the Chartbooks and re-saved all three. Then I deleted the old Chartbooks to avoid confusion. Then, I went to Global Settings, etc. and cleared the contents of Files to open on Satartup before adding the new Chartbook names. I closed AT Charts and they did not automatically open when I restarted. I think I did it properly, but I'm baffled.

So this file you are saying actually exists:
Files to Open on Start up | File does not exist: C:\Users\Alan\Chtbk#1Yen.cht | 2014-09-18 20:38:15

Even though Sierra Chart is indicating it does not exist?

If this is the case, there must be something about the C:\Users\Alan folder where Sierra Chart does not have proper access rights to it.

Yes, I can manually go to the 3 Chartbooks above that I created, and inside each one are the several charts I have created. All are active and accurate. I don't know if it is relevant, but I periodically see a message about Windows error #126 (?), and to correct it in the registry to make "something" available.

We need to see the message in the Message Log which indicates Windows error 126.

Our recommendation is to use the standard Data Files Folder in Sierra Chart and move all of your files to that folder. To do that enable Global Settings >>General Settings >>Always Use Data Folder within Main Folder.

This indicates that , that folder had special access rights which prevented Sierra Chart from having proper access to it.

Than you. There is a "Infinity VSA Plugin" that I bought from Tradeguider. IT seems to have been deleted from the Chart Studies >> Add Custom Studies folder. So, now I can't add it back to some of my charts or to new ones. Is there a way to get it back without re-downloading it? Or, can I just download it again without causing more problems?

A custom study DLL needs to be located within the Sierra Chart Data Files Folder.

Beyond that, please contact Tradeguider for further help with this.
