Hi! I've set up a chart to show separate volume profiles between evening sessions (18:00:00 - 09:29:59) and day sessions (09:30:00 - 17:00:00). In order to have these show correctly, under the Bar Period in chart settings I had to change the bar value period to reflect 1380 minutes. Now I'd like to shade the background of the evening session and have used the Time Range Highlight - Transparent study. I've input the start and end times as 18:00:00 and 09:29:59 respectively. The shading is off and doesn't align with the start of the evening profiles. I've attached a copy of my chart. Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated. Thanks so much. https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1734271945600.png |

We are not seeing any background shading in the image, so we can not tell what you are referring to. But we do not understand why you have set your Bar Period to be 1380 minutes. You have different amount of time between your day and evening session and there is no reason to set the bar period to a single large value like this. If you do not want to see the bars, then set the "Graph Draw Type" to "Blank". We believe that this large Bar Period is what is causing your issue with the Time Range Highlight. Thank you for your response. The reason I have 1380 minutes in the bar period is because if I set the "Graph Draw Type" to "Blank" and the bar period to 1 day, it does not give me separate volume profiles (one for evening hours and one for regular trading hours) even though I've said "yes" to "Use Evening Session". It just gives me one volume profile starting at 18:00 each day. When I made the switch to 1380 minutes, the profiles appear correctly but I can't shade the background from 18:00:00 to 09:29:59. I clicked on the chart I previously uploaded and the shading is visible. It's the light gray background as opposed to the black. I want that to align with 18:00 every day. Thanks much.

Set your Bar Period to something more "normal" like 1 minute or 5 minutes. Do not use 1380 minutes. Make sure the Session Times are set correctly and that you have the option for "Use Evening Session" set to "Yes". Then on the Volume by Price study set the Input for "Use Separate Profile for Evening Session" to "Yes". This is all you need to do in order to get the separate day and evening profiles. Refer to the following: Volume By Price Study: Use Separate Profile for Evening Session Your shading should then work properly as well. Thanks, John. Still can't get it to work. I read the instructions you sent and it appears I have everything set correctly. Under "Session Times" it says "Yes" to "Use Evening Session". My intraday start and end session times are set to 09:30:00 and 16:59:59. My evening start and end session times are set to 18:00:00 and 09:29:59. On the "Bar Period" screen I have the "Bar Period Value" set to 5 minutes. It reads 0-5-0. My "Graph Draw Type" is set to OHLC Bars. In my VbP study the "Volume Graph Period Type" is Multiple Profiles Based on Fixed Time. The "Time Period Type for 'Fixed Time'" is Days and the length is 1. "Use Separate Profile for Evening Session" is set to Yes. So it appears I have everything correct. When I changed the bar period value to 5 minutes, all the volume profiles go away and I end up with just OHLC bars every 5 minutes. If I change the graph draw type to blank, I get a blank screen. This is what it looks like with the time set to 5 minutes. No volume profiles but the lines are the value area highs and lows and the POC's. https://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1734471151516.png |

The reason you are not seeing all the profiles is that the profiles are aligned to the beginning of each trading session. Try changing the Bar Period to be 1 hour (0-60-0) and then use the "Page Down" button to compress the chart. You will be able to view your profiles.
