Hello,

I posted some responses on some older threads, two to be exact. I am not sure if you all will reply to them.

The main one is about me now running four (4) separate folder instances of SC, NOT using FILE >> File New Instance:
1) Denali for IronBeam
2) Denali for separating ES and NQ chartbooks and tools.
3) Rithmic for APEX
4) Trade Evaluator [trading] for Apteros Trading

Please tell me what my best option is to run a fourth instance, #4, how I can 'piggy back' it to either 1) or 2) or if I will will need to pay additional fee to run a fourth instance data connection. Based on above list it seems running it with (piggy-back) #2 will be best option. Or will I pay extra for another connection.

Thank you!!

In general, you should not post to old threads. It is best to post a new question into a new thread, as there may not be any relation to the old thread. But, we should still see the new posts and we would respond if we can.

We have checked your postings from the last few months and we do not see this particular question asked. Also, all of the postings we reviewed had been responded to.

Also, you have been posting in the "Account Support Tickets". You need to post general questions in this Support Board. The Account Support Tickets are for questions regarding your account that require privacy. This question, for instance, is one that other user's may be interested in and does not require privacy.

To answer this question.

You are allowed to have a total of 3 separate installations of Sierra Chart on a single computer all receiving the data from the Denali Exchange Data Feed at the same time. So can not get the data to all 4 of these installations at the same time. There is not way to "Piggy Back" in the way you are asking. Refer to the following:
Denali Exchange Data Feed: Denali Exchange Data Feed Connections on Same Computer Simultaneously

Some options:
- Use the Rithmic data with the APEX connection. To do this, set the option for "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds" to "No" in that installation.
- Do not use a separate installation for #2, rather use a Sub-Instance of #1, assuming the service connection is the same for these two installations.
- Use a second computer for at least 1 of these installations. You can then get 3 more installations getting data on a second computer. But, you do have to pay a second set of exchange fees for this. Refer to the following:
Denali Exchange Data Feed: Denali Exchange Data Feed on Two Computers Simultaneously

thank you for letting me know about posting in wrong area, I will correct this immediately.

I am using the Rithmic DATA with APEX accounts, so technically I am only running Denali for 3 instances now, assuming the FILE >> Data/Trade Services Settings >> Current Selected Service (List) >> Trading Evaluator [trading] is using Denali. I dont know, is it? I dont see movement on those execution charts. BUT, I dont need it because I use instance #1 and #2 for charts and data and DOM, etc. All I need from instance #4 - Trading Evaluator for APTEROS is to perform executions without Message Log errors of too many connections.

"Use the Rithmic data with the APEX connection. To do this, set the option for "Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds" to "No" in that installation." THIS CHANGE HAS BEEN MADE !

"Do not use a separate installation for #2, rather use a Sub-Instance of #1, assuming the service connection is the same for these two installations."

ARE THERE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS A SEAMLESS TRANSITION FROM CHANGING INSTANCE #2 TO A SUB-INSTANCE WITHOUT HAVING ALL MY CHARTBOOKS GO AWRY?? I often find that chartbooks get messy when making these types of changes. I am a ticinotrader trained traer and we have A LOT of chartbooks open at once, scanners, etc.

Since you have changed the APEX connection to use the Rithmic data, you should be fine and not need to make any other changes, as from what you state, you now have 3 installations using the Denali Exchange Data Feed, which is allowed.

If you are now getting an error in an installation, please let us know.

One item of note - after changing the "Allow Support For Sierra Chart Data Feeds" to "No", you also need to reconnect to the data feed for this change to take affect. To do this, select "File >> Reconnect". After you do this, you should be fine in all your installations.

ok, I have now created a new instance via FILE > NEW INSTANCE for instance #4) the APTEROS -4) Trade Evaluator [trading] for Apteros Trading,
BUT I have not deleted the MAIN folder from when I created a seperate instance of it - of which produced a "too many instances, > 3 connections error".
However I am still getting the message, do I need to delete the separate instance folder even though its not an instance that is open?

Thank you so much for guidance on this, I have been trying to solve this via reading and research for one week and dont know what I am doing wrong

We are not understanding what you are trying to state, particularly with regards to "I have not deleted the MAIN folder from when I created a seperate instance of it - of which produced a "too many instances, > 3 connections error"."

The one thing we want to point out if you are using multiple installations with sub-instances, is that you would need to update the particular instances that will be using sub-instances to have different DTC server ports, or the sub-instances will not be correctly associated with the particular instance it is being started from. Refer to the following:

To trade live from a sub instance, it is necessary that Trade >> Trade Simulation Mode On is disabled both in the sub instance and in the main instance of Sierra Chart. And that ""you have selected a non-simulated trading account."" Otherwise, the below rejection message will be given when submitting an order from the sub instance.

the above text is taken from the DTC link reading BUT the 4th instance I am running, the one for APTEROS trading is a DATA/TRADE SERVICE SETTINGS >> TRADING EVALUATOR [TRADING], does this not mean that the account is a SIM account???

(Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> DTC Protocol Server >> Enable DTC Protocol Server = Yes,
is set to NO.

both main instance and sub instance were set to no without me making any changes

Although the "Trading Evaluator" is a simulation environment, it is NOT simulation mode with respect to your Sierra Chart software. To trade with the Trading Evaluator you need to NOT be in Simulation Mode in either a sub-instance or in the main instance.

both main instance and sub instance were set to no without me making any changes

Are you using Sub-Instances in any other installation on the system? If you are, then you will need to change ports so the sub-instances in different installations reference the correct main instance.

no, as I previously mentioned I have four separate folder instances, non- subinstance method but since max connections allowed is 3 I am trying to 'covert' one instance to a sub instance. So, no I have no sub instances created prior to this conversation.

I do have one instance that is set to enable dtc protocol server to YES. I am not sure why this one instance is set to YES but I am hesitant to change to no, I dont want to mess things up. I dont fully understand all this dtc stuff

For the installation where you are using the sub-instances, set the following:
- Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> DTC Protocol Server >> Enable DTC Protocol Server: Yes

For the installations where you are NOT using sub-instances, set the following:
- Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> DTC Protocol Server >> Enable DTC Protocol Server: No
