I am trying to find how many price levels away from the top or bottom of the bar the POC is on a numbers bars study.

ie. on a positive bar, how many price levls up from the bottom is the POC. And on a short bar, how many price levels down from the top is the POC.

It looks like possibly some combination of volume point of control for bars, numbers bars calculated values, and a spreadsheet formula might do it, but I don't see exactly how.

Start with the "Volume Point of Control For Bars" study, as you thought. This will give you the price point of the Point of Control.

From there, you can either use the Spreadsheet Study or 2 copies of the Spreadsheet Formula study. We tend to prefer the Spreadsheet formula in this case, as it is not a very complicated formula.

Keep in mind the Spreadsheet Formula uses the Alert syntax (despite its name). You need two copies of the study, one for a Positive bar and one for a Negative bar. The formula for the Positive bar would look like the following:
=IF(C > O, ID1.SG1 - L, 0)

Where C is the Close of the bar, O is the Open of the bar, ID1 is the ID of the Volume Point of Control for Bars study, SG1 is the first subgraph of the Volume Point of Control for Bars, and L is the Low of the bar.

We'll let you work out the formula for the opposite situation.

From here, it is a question of how you want to display the information. To display it above the bar, set the Spreadsheet Formula subgraph Draw Style to "Value on High".
