Hi,

I currently display two bars per day via Price Changes Per Bar (Bar Period=10000000) chart for RTH 9:30am-17:00 and OTH 18:00-09:29:59am sessions. On this single chart,is it possible to draw:
- OHLC values of last week (Sun Open-FriClose)
- Current week's OHL values
- if I can do the above two for last and current month, that would be great as well

p.s. I prefer not to use price overlay study as it slows down market replay/backtesting.

Edit: I do exclude holidays and partial session dates from all my charts.

One option would be to use the "Daily OHLC" study, which allows you to reference another daily chart. If you setup the other chart with the number of days as the time period you want (i.e. setup a 1 week chart to get the OHLC for the week, etc.) then you will get each bar from the weekly chart displayed on each day in the Intraday Chart. Just keep in mind what you are seeing in the Intraday chart, as the dates will not line up. Refer to the following:
Daily OHLC

Also, keep in mind that by using a Historical chart for the reference, you are viewing the Settlement price for the close and not the exact match to the Intraday data.

If you want to avoid the Settlement price issue, then you need to use the "Study/Price Overlay" and use the "Period OHLC - Variable Period" study on the source chart(s). Refer to the following:
Previous/Period OHLC-Variable Period

Thanks John. Settlement date will not cause any issues for me so I will try the first option. I want to stay away from price overlay study. I was hoping there to be a 3rd option using spreadsheet formula, checking the current day of week to find the range of bars to look back etc but got too complicated for me to develop.
