Dear Sierra,

I just subscribed to your S&P Indices data feed with the intention to chart $SPX. It did not work. Sierrachart fail to load the data. Log as follows:

HD Request # 28 - Downloading Historical Daily chart data for $SPX. Starting date: 1964-07-26. Service: ib | 2014-07-26 22:52:42
HD Request # 28 - Requesting 365 days of historical Daily data for $SPX with end date 2014-07-27 | 2014-07-26 22:52:42
Message from IB: No security definition has been found for the request. IB Error Code: 200. Request ID: 53. | 2014-07-26 22:52:43
HD Request # 28 - Error downloading historical Daily data for $SPX. The symbol is unknown to the server. | 2014-07-26 22:52:43
HD Request # 28 - Received 0 records from 00:00:00 to 00:00:00 (0.0 seconds) and wrote 0 records for $SPX | 2014-07-26 22:52:43
HD Request # 28 - Daily download COMPLETE for $SPX | 2014-07-26 22:52:43

I then downloaded $INX, that worked.

Questions:
. why did $SPX not work?
. can it be I already had access to $INX via the CBOE Indices data feed?
. if yes, I would like to cancel the S&P Indices data feed - I subscribed 15 minutes ago - could you issue a refund?

Thank you.

1. You are running an older version of Sierra Chart.

Update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Current Version.

You need to be on the newer versions, to ensure that the symbol mapping works correctly and you see all of the available symbols in File >> Find Symbol.

2. $SPX requires the CBOE Indices exchange. Refer to:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Cash Indexes

As far as a refund goes, the actual man-hours cost of refunding an exchange fee will far exceed the 3.25 USD. So you would get nothing returned. Unless we have made a mistake on our side, a refund is not issued.

We are doing some testing now to see why when opening a Historical Chart for the $SPX symbol it is not being routed to the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. It should be.

We now have the symbol mapping set up correctly for Interactive Brokers for $SPX, to properly route the historical data request. Restart Sierra Chart to get the updated Symbol Settings.

We need to update the Symbol Settings for all of the services and all of the index symbols and that will be done by the end of the day on Monday.
