Rectangle drawings issue

I am having issues with the rectangle drawing tool. All other tools are working ok. The usual way I draw a line or rectangle is by left clicking on starting point on the chart, dragging mouse to end point (while left click is still pressed) and then releasing at the end point. This way line tool is working fine. But for rectangles (normal or extended), I dont see the left click being activated. Rectangles are being drawn on the chart but I dont see the crossover moving around while I draw the shape. What am I doing wrong?

I have not changed any of these suggested settings. So when you draw say a line, you can see the shape of the line while you drag it with mouse pressed. Same with rectangles - you press the mouse, drag the mouse vertically or horizontally first then drop it where you want the rectangle to form. While you are dragging the mouse, you can see outline of the drawing (rectangle). In my case, I don't see any rectangle lines getting formed until I complete the drawing by the closing left click. I can then see the rectangle shape but nothing while my mouse is clicked and I am moving it around to draw the rectangle. I have no trouble with any other tool - only the main rectangle and the extended version. Same issue in both. Please advise. Thanks

brilliant - that was the issue as I have black background and selected black outline for my rectangles. Thank you for this resolution.
