Enclosed please find a PDF with screenshots to illustrate my issue. I've reviewed documentation and experimented with the study settings but can't figure it out.

(1) Initial Balance (IB) from the regular ES trading session is carrying over into the next overnight session. Is there a way to terminate these horizontal lines at the end of the day session on a 24 hour chart?

(2) When the new day session begins, IB lines from the previous day still appear. I have the "Number of Days to Calculate" set to 1.

(3) Even an hour into the new day session, IB lines from the previous day remain.

(4) If data is reloaded (e.g. change period from 5m to 2m), IB lines from the previous day disappear. This is how I would like the chart to display.

Sorry it has taken us some time to dig into this to fully understand the situation.

What you are seeing is how Sierra Chart functions and the way this study is setup.

The first item - the Initial Balance lines extend into the overnight period. The way the study is setup, the Initial Balance lines are displayed through to the next Initial Balance Period. Therefore, you will see the lines starting at 09:30 and extending to 09:30 the next day, where you will get the next Initial Balance set of lines.

The other items - related to the display of the Initial Balance lines even though the number of days to calculate is set to 1. By default, for a study in Sierra Chart, the previous data is not erased unless there is a full recalculation of the chart. And this study is not setup with any special code to remove old data. Therefore, as time continues on, the older lines are going to stay on the chart until there is a forced recalculation (such as a new study, or the selection of Chart >> Recalculate).

Thanks for the explanation. I've closely monitored this study over the last month, and believe there could be another issue in play for two reasons.

(1) When I open the workbook for the first time, the Initial Balance lines carry over from the previous session as described in my original posting. If I close the workbook WITHOUT SAVING and immediately re-open, the Initial Balance lines will display as one might expect/desire.

(2) A forced recalculation using "Chart > Recalculate" does NOT cause the Initial Balance lines to display as desired. Instead I must re-load the data by clicking on the time period, such as 5m.

This pattern is the same regardless of the time of day I start up SC and load the workbook. In other words, the same behavior occurs before or after the IB period (09:30-10:30am EST) begins. Please see attached screenshots.

We are not sure why you are getting lines going back to the previous day when you open the chartbook. But the one thing we can tell you is that if you select Edit >> Reload and Recalculate that will force a full recalculation of the chart. You can do this rather than change the bar period.
