Is there a way to calculate and display the daily average range for a given instument?

Yes. Open a Historical Daily chart.

You could use the Average True Range study.

Or you can use the Bar Difference study and then base a Moving Average study on that.

average true range study displays 0 in the value scale... Can we change this to get actual values which is the whole point?

Ok, what I meant was: Is there a way to calculate the yearly average range. So an average of the last 365 days.

WHat would be the best way to do that please?

Set the Length input of the Moving Average or the Average True Range study to the number of trading days in the year and the value of it at the last bar would be the yearly average.
