Scale out problem with orders

Good morning,

When I place an order with OCO brackets with enabled “support scale in” and “support scale out” settings orders that I place afterwards are not scaling out my position they are just separate orders with own OCO brackets. “Use attached orders” is checked. This problem is not present in Sim trading. This is happening in live trading only (I use Interactive Brokers, trade stocks). I went through settings and corresponding help sections and double checked everything, seems like I have scale out/in set correctly but this functionality is not working for me. I used it in the past and it was working correctly.

First make sure you are setting these Scale In and Scale Out options on the correct Trade Window:

And to confirm you cannot reproduce the problem in Trade Simulation mode?

Try reproducing the issue with the Simulated Trading Service:

I made sure that trade window is correct. Trade window is attached to chart, both “support scale in” and “support scale out” are checked. This functionality is not working I waited for the US Equities Open to try it again - I can not make it work: both scale in and out (if I add additional shares or take partial profit).

It is working correctly in SIMULATION MODE. Same chart, same trade window. Only live version is not working (Interactive Brokers connection).

Let us focus on one operation, Scale In.

Enable confirmations on the Trade Window. Submit an order, and does it indicate that a Scale In will be performed with the existing attached orders?

Ok. Focusing on Scaling in. I place order with brackets, confirmation I click OK, it gets filled, I place another order and got confirmation for a "Scale in" I click OK it gets filled. It works.

THEN... I change size... I place order, confirmation NOT for scale IN but for new order. It do not work. During making tests it was NOT working as it should (for few times) then it was working fine and then it was not working again. I was not changing anything except the size. It is inconsistent.

I made a recording of when it do not work, showing everything I do and all settings (on live account).

The problem is very clear. It has to do with a Position reporting issue with Interactive Brokers:
Interactive Brokers Trading Service: Trade Position Line or Quantity Disappearing or Displaying Zero

We recommend using the Order Fill Calculated Position Quantity:
Trading Information Windows: Using Order Fill Calculated Trade Positions

That will solve the issue.

Hello Voy,

sorry i cant help you with your issue.

But i am posting here because i also scale in and scale out by sierra chart and IBKR.
i always have some concerns by doing this with IBKR because:

If i scale in, my Limit order will be sent to IBKR and my stop and my target quantity only will be changed after filled Limit order. After fill Sierra Chart changes the Stop and Target and send it to a IBKR.
But i always thinking of the worst case, a power blackout or something else thats loosing my connection to IBKR. In this case IBKR will fill the Limit Order but my stop and target Quantity didnt change.

Do you have a solution for this problem.
The best way for me is to have a Max Daily Loss, if it is hit all Positions and orders should be closed. Do you know if IBKR offers something like that. But i think they wouldnt.
