hello,

is there be a native mac version of SC coming down the pipeline? the M1 chips are a game-changer. they are the most powerful chipsets available and an optimized version of SC seems like a dream. if you are not considering making a native mac version, i would kindly ask that you all reconsider that choice as it seems like what could be a missed opportunity.

kindest regards,

I am too eager to know the roadmap for SC to support Mac hardware/M1. Using virtualization software is a pain in the overall experience of using SC.

I feel SC must be released as native Mac version as well.

There were discussions on this subject before, unfortunately, Sierra is not going to release Mac version any time soon, the work required for a Mac version exceeded what engineering team expected. I am also a Mac user with a 2015 iMac, and running Sierra on Linux smoothly, CPU usage below 5% (Linux can not be running on M1 at this point)

Just out of curiosity, which virtualization software are you using? The only program I know is Parallel, I heard there are others.

Thanks

I'm using Codeweavers Crossover.
It works rather nice.

I also would really like to see the M1 support and support for UNIX OS (rather than Linux Kernel).

Mac has a few tools that are helpful:
Automation with Keyboard Maestro and other OSx based tools such as Moom for managing windows
DEVONthink for storing images and notes

I am hoping someday SierraChart will support PDF charts so we can search the text in the chart images because with AI tools in DEVONthink, all the journal entries will get organized automatically by the annotations made.

Thanks

We could add the ability to search the text set on drawings, and Text drawings, through the Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings Window.

I run SC on Parallels. Works fine on M1 and M2. Its a shame there is no native Mac app. You can't overstate how amazing SC looks on a retina Apple display.

It seems like Parallels is a better option for M1/M2, because it runs natively.

Last time Apple needed a translator was in late 90s when they switched from PowerPC to Intel based CPU, the translator was called Rosetta, 2 years later Apple announced they stopped supporting Rosetta (not surprisingly), there's a good chance that the life span of Rosetta 2 will be the same, if not shorter.

Right now Codeweavers are struggling to make Crossover running natively on M1/M2, if they failed to get this done in 2 years, the Crossover will not be usable on new Macs

I really hope we can get a native Mac app one day. Bookmap has made a native app and it is so much smoother

@User398084, check this, you might be interested:

I think Parallel + Windows 11 ARM is almost like running Windows natively, if I understood it correctly, since Parallel is a virtual machine, not a emulator.
