I am struggling some with alerts. Some of it I have worked out (alerts on drawings, etc.). One thing I haven't been able to find an answer for is probably very simple but I feel I am a bit lost. Imagine I am trying to set an audible alert for price increases over last price, and an alert for price decreases over last price. I am not sure where to best place an alert like that. Suggestions?

This would be a "Simple Alert" and if you just have the one alert then you would enter it for the chart under Chart >> Chart Settings >> Alerts. Refer to the information for Simple Alerts here: Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you. I’m not sure that will work for what I’m trying to do. If I want Alert1 to sound when price moves up and Alert2 to sound when price moves down, where is the best place to do that? If I do it on the Chart alert I think I can only have one alert sound, correct? I think once I learn this as an example case then I can apply it to other things I want to do. I would like to get to a point where I can do something like sound Alert1 if the current price increases four times in a row and sound Alert2 if the current price decreases four times in a row. That’s kind of the idea I’m going for at the moment. Once I learn that then I can start to get fancy. The end goal is to replicate something like TickStrike. |

It will work for one of your alerts, but since you need two of them, then you would need to use a Study in order to hold the other alert. If you already have a study on the chart, then you can use one of them (the alert on the study does not have to use any of the data from the study). Or, if you do not have any studies (or if you just want to have an "Alert" study) then you would need to add some study to the chart, although you can have the study Hidden - so a simple study like Volume, or Study Subgraph Reference would work well. Then, the alert formula for price increasing for the last 4 bars would be the following: =AND(C[-3] < C[-2], C[-2] < C[-1], C[-1] < C) C is the Close of the bar and the number in the brackets is the number of bars back from the current bar. Also, make sure you look into the option for Evaluate on Bar Close, as this may be a setting you want to use. This is a perfect example and I greatly appreciate it. Now it makes sense to me and I can build on this. One last question - do these alerts sound off during Replay mode at various speeds? If so I am doing something wrong but I will figure it out. If not I will work more on this tomorrow. Thanks again!
