How do I change the STYLE and COLOR of a drawing when price hits it? For example, I am using the extended rectangle tool for my zones and I want to change the border to be dashes and color to be grey once price hits it.

You need to use the Drawing Alert and then have it change the Configuration number that is used for the drawing, where the new configuration has the new Style and Color you want. Refer to the following: Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Drawing Alert Options For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thanks, I changed the configuration to what I want but it isn't working the way I need it to. If I draw the extended rectangle below price (and vice versa), I want it to change to the configuration that I setup but it isn't doing that. My alert settings are: 1 - enabled, 2 - set to only trigger once, 3 - set to crossing or equal to 4 - tool config set to what I want. I also tried using "cross from above/below" I'm getting 2 problems: 1 - if my setting is "crossing or equal to", while I am drawing the extended rectangle on my zone, it would change to my triggered setting. So I would draw my zone and while price is far away the other setting goes on 2- If my setting is "cross from above/below" the drawing works sometimes. This I don't understand because once price crosses I want to see that my zone changes color. It worked on some zones and not others and I checked the settings and they are what I listed above. Is there another setting I am missing or did I not set this up correctly? |

What is the Subgraph that you have chosen to test against? Keep in mind that for Extending Rectangles the test is done against the Top line and the Bottom Line separately, basically as if they are separate lines with the same alert. Refer to the information here: Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Drawing Alerts The other thing to keep an eye on is when you are troubleshooting is is easy for the alert to go off and then no longer be valid. You need to ensure that the option for Enable Alert for Chart Drawing is Enabled. The subgraph I tested against is "Open". I am not sure what these subgraphs mean so I didn't change it. And I have enabled the option "Enable Alert for Chart Drawing" for all my extended rectangles. -- I just saw the extended rectangle change but only when it went through BOTH of the lines. I want it to change as soon as it touched the first line so I know my zone got hit |

The Subgraph is the part of the bar that you are referencing against the drawing. For the most part you would want to choose the Last, as that is the part of the bar that changes with time. The Open is a set point when the bar is first created, so it will never actually "Cross" a drawing, as it does not move.

I changed the subgraph to last. Now what is happening is I will draw my zone on a certain timeframe and when I switch timeframes, it will changed to my alert configuration. For example, I draw a zone on the 120min chart and go to the 240min and my zone will show that it has been hit even though it wasn't.

It certainly is possible to get a true condition when changing the timeframe of the chart. In particular, if the start time of the drawing is at a bar that gets included with other previous bars and one of the previous bars crossed the drawing. Can you give us screenshots of the before and after situation you are seeing.
