The Sierra Chart online documentation states that packages 3 or 5 are required to receive market statistics data. I just subscribed to package 1 and I'm receiving market statistics such as NYSE Tick. I'm wondering why that is.

This could be if you have not restarted Sierra Chart since the payment.

What specific symbol are you using?

You should not be relying on being able to receive market statistics on package 1.

I was getting data for the NYSE Tick "TICK-NYSE", formerly $TICK, after subscribing and working with the SC software for the first time. I put it in a spreadsheet and found it wasn't consistent with the data I obtain from TD Ameritrade and "Think or Swim" that I record in an Excel spreadsheet every day. I wondered if I was getting valid data from SC. Market Statistics isn't enabled in the list of services and the info on the site says I need package 3 or 5 but I was able to download the NYSE TICK data, or so it would seem. I'm looking for another source of NYSE tick data so I can validate one of these two data sources. Maybe data vendors calculate the Tick Index slightly differently and that would account for the inconsistency. I need to replicate the intraday data I receive from Ameritrade in an end-of-day and historical format. I'm hoping SC can fill that void but I need to know I'm getting solid data.

We have to check on this, but it is possible you would get historical data for the market statistics, but not real-time data.

So this explains why you were able to get the market statistics data. However, they will not update in real time.

Market statistics data are not going to be 100% consistent with other sources. There is going to be slight variations. However, it is solid data. There can be no doubt about that. Refer to the documentation here for how the calculations are done:

The info on the Market Statistics page implies that the SC NYSE Tick Index calculation includes zero-plus and minus ticks in tick totals. Most definitions of the Tick Index don't mention zero-plus and minus ticks. One site I saw stated that zero plus and minus aren't included. That may be the reason for different results from different vendors. I need to find out what calculation method is used by the Ameritrade vendor.

Wouldn't the NYSE calculate the Tick Index and provide the data to vendors for distribution? If that's the case, there shouldn't be any difference among various providers.

It seems there may be many variations and calculation methods for the "Tick Index".

The NYSE Tick Index symbol changed recently. I'm assuming a new vendor is providing that data. Do you know whether or not the new vendor calculates the Tick Index the same way as the old vendor did?

The new vendor for the market statistics is us, Sierra Chart. We would expect the calculations to be similar, but how Sierra Chart does the calculations is documented here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/SCMarketStatistics.php#CalculationsAlgorithms

There definitely will be some differences.
