I noticed The zig zag cumulative volume study will repaint the prior bars if the trend changes . Giving false indications .

Any way to prevent / change this ?

I have all the inputs set correctly. I saw some previous posts with the same concern and no solution

Is this just the way it is?

Set this input to Yes and this is all that you can do:

The study configuration is not consistent bewteen the two images, so how can you possibly compare them?

249 is set to 'Total Volume, High, Low, 1, 0.5 0.75, 4, Yes, Yes'
252 is set to 'Total Volume, Last, Last, 2, 0.5 0.75, 4, Yes, Yes'

Also, it is normal to repaint if a reversal starts but is not confirmed, but that is dependant on your configuration.

Using image 249 configuration - a reversal has started, but until price moves 0.5% off of the most recent swing high the reversal is not confirmed. As price does not move the specified distance, the move is not confirmed and the reversal is invalid, ergo the up trend continues and the volume bars are correctly repainted accordingly.
