Custom Calculated Symbols Won't Work

Hi,

I have followed the instructions for making a Custom Calculated Symbols.
When I enter this value:

11*{AAPL}+10*{MSFT}

It says "not a valid symbol".
What am I doing wrong? Thank you

Hi,

There is no log that appears. Just a message in red that says "invalid symbol".

Is my formatting correct or not?

The symbol is correct. However, the symbol is not recognized as a formula symbol. Make sure you follow through all of the instructions here:

Hi,

I am wanting to have a chart of 90 of the Nasdaq 100 stocks along with their multipliers.

I can open one chart with 10 symbols and their multiplers, but when I try to make it
20 symbols and their multipliers it won't load.

I have the 250 symbol limit.

Do the multiplier numbers count as symbols or is the symbol limit strictly for the symbols?

Hi,

Hi,

After a lot of trial and error, I think I have figured out that your
Custom Calculated Symbols can only have around 230 characters in the
total calculation.
When I try to add one more stock symbol beyond this I always get an error.

If I get the 750 symbols instead of the 250 symbol package will that increase
the number of characters I can put in one Custom Calculated Symbol chart?

No. There probably is a character limit due to operating system limitations and that must be what you are encountering.

Sierra Chart does not set a limit but we thought about this and since the symbol is used as the file name, the operating system is probably putting a limit on the length of the file name and that is where the problem must be.
