Replay hangs

Sometimes replay will hang and become non-responsive. Requires closing and restarting to the app to resolve

You are starting a replay for all the charts in the chartbook, so there could be another chart that is being loaded or calculated while the one you are viewing is stopped for the moment.

How long have you waited to see if the system would come back?

When it is in that state, are you able to change between Charts?

I don't wait for more than a minute. I am running disconnected and with sierra charts behind a firewall to prevent from downloading new data between test runs, so its not online data or data download related. Replay normally starts within a few seconds.

I only have one visible chart, and one hidden chart created by the study. Feels like an async bug to me for what its worth

Really wish replay had a "stop date/time" and that all the popups were moved into the dialog and persisted. I frequently do a rebuild between replays and having having to check "use start date/time" every run and answers the 2 popups and change the frequency becomes tedious pretty quickly. The occasional hang is just icing on the cake.

What is shown in the image is that the chart is loading the data, which can take some time, depending on what needs to get loaded.

The main item we need to understand is whether you are able to interact with the system when it is in this state. Can you select the pulldown menus or otherwise interact. Let us know and we can move forward with the next steps.

Follow the procedure here to delete the chart data file for the symbol of the chart:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ChartDataFiles.html#DeletingChartDataFile

Let us know if that resolves the issue.

I've deleted the data file. That said, this is an intermittent problem that happens maybe once every 50 replays.

I'll also suggest if a corrupted data file causes the app to hang, the code needs to be able to detect and handle invalid data w/o hanging.

It does. But we cannot consider every scenario though. We just do not know what the cause of the problem is.

We are just having you try different things until we can come to a determination.
