Hello,

I had an issue before where couldn't run sierra seem to run sierra charts on two computers( not for trading one just for data via denali) and John Sc support showed the forced login option which worked.

I am back to the same issue after updating where one machine works fine via sierra chart (sc data) services however the machine i use for trading connected to cqg keeps giving me the following message in the sub instance and freezez up the platform :

SC Data - All Services | Server protocol version: 8. Client protocol version: 8 | 2021-07-09 08:40:00.596
SC Data - All Services | Logon error received from server: Connection limit exceeded. | MaxConnectionsDifferentDevices = 1, NumCurrentConnectionsDifferentDevices = 2 | 2021-07-09 08:40:00.596
SC Data - All Services | Waiting for socket receive thread to end | 2021-07-09 08:40:00.596
DTC Client socket (2) | CloseSocket call. | 2021-07-09 08:40:00.611
SC Data - All Services | Disconnected from the server. | 2021-07-09 08:40:00.611
SC Data - All Services | Data feed disconnected. Will reconnect in 5 seconds. | 2021-07-09 08:40:00.611

Please help.

thank you

The first thing is to make sure you are not connected to the Sierra Chart Data Feeds from both systems at the same time. If they are, then you will get the error that you are getting and you will need to ensure that you are only connected from one system at a time.

If you are only connected to the data from one system, then that is where you use the Forced Login option, in order to ensure that the system that your systems have the updated information from our servers on which one is connected and which one is not.

I cannot seem to get the second sub instance to not freeze even after disconnecting all sierra SC DATA only connection. Only have 1 (one) CQG connection and still cannot run sub instance. I did notice the following in the log. I cant seem to run sub instance without higher memory usage compared the main instance ( 22,xxx,xxx memory usage vs main one 6,xxx,xxx)

Thus the freezing continues to happen with different chart book as system resources max out.

What specifically do you mean by "freeze"?

We also cannot help with any CQG connectivity or errors.

My sub instance running on any chartbook seems to cause that instance to give the " Not responding" On all windows related to that instance. The main Sierra charts responds fine with real time data.

This happened after I renewed My sierra data feed that had expired, and Updated form 2265 to 2285.

I am was wondering if a bad data file cause this in the sub instance?

I assumed it to be a connection issue, however I switched sierra to SC data only and have the issues on sub instance.

pardon the prior vague post.

This is highly unusual that a Sub-Instance would be having a specific problem. Is it always the same sub-instance number (sub-instances start with number 2, then 3, etc.) that gives the issue, but other sub-instances are fine?

If the above is the case, then we want you to delete the folder for the sub-instance that is causing the issue. Go to your main Sierra Chart folder (typically C:\SierraChart) and then look for a folder named "SierraChartInstance_2" and then delete that folder. Then start a New Instance from the main File menu and see if you continue to have the same issue.

Thank you John I will try as you suggested.

What is specially concerning is the memory usage on instance two is nearly 95% of available Ram, while the main instance uses less then 4% of available Ram.

Thank for your prompt help as always

Do not delete the sub instance. You are simply experiencing a high CPU usage condition and therefore you need to refer to help topic 30:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

The main instance does not have the Chartbooks you are using in a sub instance, at least if you have created them in the sub instance or have made modifications to Chartbooks from the main instance. If you delete a sub instance, you lose all of your Chartbooks in that instance and the backups.

The issue simply has to do with a particular Chartbook and its charts, and studies and all of the related settings. Refer to help topic 30. It is very comprehensive on things to check.

No, this is unrelated.

So in regards to high CPU usage, when i pull the resources monitor I am seeing a 9% usage of CPU however seeing 99% usage of memory.

When using the " example chart book" provided i still get the same 99% usage and based on the system resources one instances uses 30,xxx,xxx while main instance uses 4,xxx,xxx memory.

For now I am using the setup with making sure i dont spook the second instance by doing any changes and moved the trading dom to another instance to avoid the " not responding" that has become a common sight this whole week.

None the less Sierra is still the best platform and I thank you guys for the continued support.
