Rollover type can be set in individual chart settings and can also be set in symbol settings (let's say custom).

if we use date based rollover, for instance, it seems that it can be controlled in the "Custom" settings of the symbol settings "Or' the chart settings.

My question is, does the symbol settings override the chart settings for rollover?

Also there is even another setting under Global settings/General Settings/General 4/Additional Days to Add to Rollover Date for Automatic Chart and Quote Board Rollovers. Is this only used when the chart settings are use for a continuous contract?

What I'm getting at for data based rollover, i'm wondering if i can just use the custom symbol settings to control it and set the chart based rolloer to "none" and ignore the Additional Days to Add to Rollover Date for Automatic Chart and Quote Board Rollovers setting

We do not know what you are referring to with the "Chart settings for rollover". The only options within the chart related to rollover is whether it is Date-Based or Volume-Based (by rollover type) and whether it Automatically rolls over or not.

Otherwise, all the controls for the actual date of rollover are stored in the Symbol Settings.

You do have two options in General Settings to affect the rollover. They are the following:
- Detect Rollover Of Current Futures Contracts Symbols Based On Real Time Volume:
General Settings Window: Detect Rollover Of Current Futures Contracts Symbols Based On Real Time Volume (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Charts >> Symbol)

- Additional Days to Add to Rollover Date for Automatic Chart and Quote Board Rollovers
General Settings Window: Additional Days to Add to Rollover Date for Chart and Quote Board Rollovers (Global Settings >> General Settings >> Charts >> Charts)
