Many videos show that there is a GUI for the "Data/Trade Service Settings" window.

But here and on my platform there is no such GUI.

What happened to it, and why was it removed?

As I understand it, many settings windows are being converted to a less Windows-Centric form that will make it easier to port the application to non-Windows environments, like Linux. Unfortunately, the documentation has not yet caught up with the implementation.

The documentation here seem fine, but when you watch videos of how to configure SC, etc. you see the Windows GUI, making you think that it's something wrong with your installation.

great, but do you really have to make these windows so awfully ugly? It really does look like something broken from the Netscape era...

Most other platforms has a load of different GUI options, also/fairly compatible with Windows, such as Qt etc. Can't we use that?
Or better, write GUI wrapper to make those ugly things look at least a little windows.

This is why we do not like to produce videos because they become out of date and a lot of work to reproduce. You may be looking at videos that are not directly from Sierra Chart.

They are not ugly.

And they are massively more efficient, flicker free and stable than Microsoft garbage dialog windows. Microsoft dialog windows from the perspective of code efficiency and stability are nothing but an absolute abomination. Sierra Chart also does not use QT and never would. That would lead to a complete destruction of the quality of the Sierra Chart product.

And furthermore you can customize both the Font and Colors for these new Settings Windows. Refer to:
Settings Windows Interface: Introduction

Now if you notice anything which is truly "broken" with the new Settings Windows, we will take care of them. Just let us know specifically what. There are still improvements being worked on and sometimes there are small issues that we need to resolve. We take care of these as we become aware of them.

Thank you for the explanation. Unfortunately i don't think Windows will ever go *nix, regarding the UI. Perhaps going the way of Webview like is done in Android would allow for a more sexy UI/UX.

Either way, it's understood and accepted. On a side note, it is annoying that you're not able to resize many of the windows, especially that of the Study settings that often have very long names and maybe hundreds of sub-settings. It would have been a minimal expectation that you can resize the window in such a way that you don't have to scroll in 2 dimensions.

These will become resizable when they are converted to the new format.

Great. So how do you convert to the new format?
(Or is this something you guys are still working on?)

We are gradually working on this. The Study Settings window is more complex.
