I followed the instructions in the link.
I connected to Rithmic (Execution trading service).
I did see the account balances correct.
I did receive the error that the CL symbol was unknown.
After a minute I changed the Data/Trade Service settings to SC / ALL data.

I am still receiving 10min delayed data for CL.
I did see the "delayed" data message on the SC top bar disappear, yet I am still getting delayed data.

Please advise,
Thank you.

The connection to Rithmic did not work properly. If you have the Status Bar in your Control Bar showing, make sure it turns to Green after you make the connection to Rithmic, otherwise, it is not getting far enough to verify your account.

Try again and let us know what happens.

Hello John,
Thanks for helping me to figure this out.

Here are the steps I did:
1. Date/Trade service settings > I selected Rithmic Trading (Rithnmic 01 US server) > Used credentials provided from my IB (my clearing is ADMIS).
2. The status bar turns Green.
3. After SC connects, I see correct Account Balance in SC but the chart (CLM1-NYMEX) shows the "Symbol Unknown" and the chart does not update at all. It's frozen to where data loaded previously when used another service.
4. Then after 1 minute, I switch Date/trade Service settings to SC - All Services [data] (as per IB tech guy suggestion) and the data shows 10 min delayed.
5. I subscribed to Denali Top Tier CME for $1.35 to receive CL data.

Please advise,
Thank you very much,
Tom

John,
I noticed that when I load ESM21-CME as described above, I do NOT get the Symbol Unknown error.
I only get it when loading CLM1-NYMEX

Is the CL delayed data caused by getting this:

CME non-professional top-of-book  1.25 USD / month (CME, GBLX)

instead of getting:

Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) for nonprofessional Trading accounts  3.25 USD / month
(CME, GBLX, CBOT, CBOTM, COMEX, CXMI, NYMEX, NYMI)

Thank you,

Yes. Precisely. You only have real-time data for symbols traded on the CME exchange. CL is on NYMEX.

So to be clear, do I have to signup for the $3.25 package instead of the $1.25?
My IB tech believes that to receive real time CL through CME, $1.25 top of the book should be good enough?
I just want to understand, which package do I need to subscribe to to receive CL real time data.

Thanks and sorry to bother with this basic stuff John,
Much thanks,

The CME Group is composed of 4 exchanges - CME, COMEX, NYMEX, and CBOT. You have signed up to get data just from the CME exchange (which has symbols such as ES and NQ). The CL symbol trades on the NYMEX exchange. Therefore, in order to get real-time data for CL, you would need to have activated one of the exchanges that includes the NYMEX.

Therefore, you could just activate the NYMEX non-professional top-of-book for an additional $1.25. This would be the best option for now.

But, if you will be wanting data from one of the other two exchanges (CBOT or COMEX), then you end up being best off by going with the Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) for nonprofessional Trading accounts which is $3.25.

Just keep in mind that exchanges do not offer refunds, so if you were to switch to the Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) for nonprofessional Trading accounts now, you will not get back your $1.25 for the NYMEX non-professional top-of-book.

As to the guy at IB, he most likely is confused by the fact that the company is called the CME Group and there is a CME Exchange within it. Or at least, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

John,
Fully understood.
I was suspecting what you described being the case.

I shall signup for the Full CME Group and I will simply let the $1.25 lapse at the end of the month.
Am I correct to assume that $1.25 is charged manually each month or will I have to manually "deactivate" it
before the beginning of next month, in order to not be charged next month?

In the meanwhile, I will sign up for the Full CME Group, as I will add GC and possibly other instruments in the future
so this bundle makes sense.

John, again thank you for taking the time. You made it crystal clear on this subject.

Regards,

You are very welcome.

With regards to your CME non-professional top-of-book, you WILL need to select the Deactivate button on the exchanges page. This will set it to not automatically renew. You do still get the data through the end of the month, but if you then activate the Full CME Group (CME, CBOT, COMEX, NYMEX) for nonprofessional Trading accounts, then it really does not matter.
